Would New Orleans want anyone other than Zion for AD?

There was a time when I was debating who between Culver and Hunter is my favourite non-Duke wing ( and actually overall wing) in this draft.

While Culver is the only one who showed he is worthy to be in the Top 5 am still glad these two can face off in the grandest stage of college basketball.

Does not matter cause no one is trading Zion to them.

Not even the Knicks. imo

I like Culver. He’s someone you can take for a rebuilding team or a contending team. Makes it easier picking him vs someone like Hunter. May the best man win for the championship!

Zion is box office. Anyone who traded him is a fool.

Yeah kyrie will be 28 and Durant will be 31 next year. timelines just don't match. Kyrie and Durant are trying to make history, I just don't see them waiting for a 19 or 20 yr old to develope. It's going to be like when the Celtics traded for Ray Allen to put them over the top or when the Cavs traded for Kevin love. We are going to use the pick and do the same thing.

New York gonna New York I spose.

While I don't disagree I hate the move strategically. I get it. Its NY and we gotta win now with the prices we charge.

For me its just that for the first time in eons the Knicks have set themselves up for a possible 10+ year run. Going big FA and trading assets means that in 4 years we'll be where Cleveland is today. And what if fate or injury factor in? Then you traded your future for 4 years of fun w/o accomplishing your goal. Then what? Another 5 years to get back to where we are today?

The strategically dumb thing about it is the Sixers will still be relatively young and will be contenders before us and when we're back in the lottery.

The irony is that landing Zion is likely the only way NY adopts a long term view.

Landing Zion means Mitch and Zion are your frontcourt for the next 10 years. You then sign KI & KD. That's a high level 4 right there. The beauty of NY's position would be they'd still have cap room for a max FA (2012) or selective FAs that build out your roster w/o mortgaging your future (post Durant). And they'd still have all their draft capital to continue to build.

Capital is the name of the game in the NBA because it gives you the ability to exploit situations to your benefit. Does anyone doubt that within the next 16 months some elite FA is going to want out. With NY sitting there with capital they'd be in a commanding position to make a blockbuster trade without really trading away their future.

For example in 2 years Zion and Mitch will be 22 and ready to lead. At that point KD will be a 33yr old on the decline. If the Knicks keep their cap room and assets they would have the means to acquire a top replacement for Durant either via trade, FA or the stocked draft of 2022 (where they would have multiple picks). It'd be a seamless transition from a win now to win for the next 10 years.

Just my 2 cents but I really hope Perry see's the larger picture here rather than chasing a quick high.

I like it. If he works on a jumper and hits that consistently next year he might be considered a fringe lottery pick. Good distributor and pesky defender. He just couldn't shoot.

That's a problem with a lot of these kids. Very athletic, quick and strong but decision-making and fundamentals are usually weak.

tre jones is one of the better decisionmakers and defenders. it's just that shooting is such a critical skill for a small guard.

True. Ja Morant, a great decision-maker too. Size is a problem for these guys though if you're going to emphasize a switching defense.
