I just read Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 265
This might be the best Chapter of this entire story arc. Wow. I can't wait to see this animated

Re: OT The Nerdy stuff Thread
So MHA is over I guess
I don't hate the ending, it's just, it feels like a lot of wasted potential, like the story got streamlined in a bad way
I think you look at the start of it, it feels like all the side characters are gonna have reasons to be in stuff, the fact it wasn't like a Naruto "team 7" sort of deal meant you could pair Deku up with theoretically any of the rest of the class for specific arcs, and I think that's what Horikoshi was going for to start, but that got tedious so he just decided to only focus on Todoroki and Bakugo. Who to be fair are the most compelling of the side characters, but that's also because they're the only ones who really get any development
That's also not to talk about the weird sexism/fetish stuff with the female heroes (I'm a One Piece fan so I feel like I can't criticize any media too harshly for fan service-y stuff), but even ignoring that, Uraraka might be the least developed love interest in shonen. Which sucks cause at the start it felt like she was written pretty well and was actually friends with Deku, but by the end she's literally just Sakura. They don't even confirm her and Deku get together at the end lol, I mean it's hinted but not confirmed
Just a lot of missed opportunities. Still a good manga, but it could have been one of the greatest, the next generation big 3
Also to tie it back to One Piece, the cover art for it this week was a drawing by Kohei Horikoshi back when he was in high school. Dude wrote a whole decade-long manga since making that drawing and Oda is still going strong. It's just really a testament to how good Oda is that One Piece is nearly 3 times the length of MHA, which is a long manga on its own, and yet he's still somehow at the top of his game. Dude is insane.

Re: OT The Nerdy stuff Thread
So fun fact
With MHA over, JJK is now the 2nd-longest running manga in Shonen Jump, after One Piece of course
JJK chapter 1 released March 5th, 2018, the same day as One Piece chapter 896. At the rate JJK is going (265 chapters in 335 weeks since it first released), it would take about 498 weeks for it to reach 896 chapters, or February 20th, 2034 to reach where One Piece was when chapter 1 of JJK dropped, and JJK is almost ending too lol.

Man it made me sad to read all that. I'm a huge fan of MHA so far, and I do feel like it was the closest to capturing the ethos of the Big 3 era.
Not sure what I'm gonna do when One Piece ends...

Kagurabachi.

Kagurabachi.

Kagurabachi

Kagurabachi

Hardboiled swordsman revenge noir meets John Wick and Batman, it's one of the strongest manga series that I've seen debut in Jump in a long time.
This is the next one. The author's cinematic story telling stands out among the rest, and the hero Chihiro is refreshing, he's edgy, ruthless and deadpan, but he's a hero in every sense of the word and the wacky cast around him plays off his personality to perfection.
Don't take my word for it though, check it out it's free to read on the mangaplus app, or if you sail the seven seas. When the anime comes out, this thing is gonna explode.

At a certain point in the manga, Horikoshi decided that Uraraka was going to do her own thing if I recall and she tossed all romantic aspirations for Deku aside, and in turn she just supported him when she could. I liked the fact that in the end, he didn't forget about what she did for him, and he told her that she was his hero.
As a reader, I don't need anything more than that to be honest. I don't like what happens to shonen love interests after they get what they want, they become housewives who have lost all ambition.
I like that Uraraka kept moving forward.
Regarding Deku, I knew full well for awhile that he was going to end up being quirkless at the end because Horikoshi's original plan was the basis for one of the MHA movies, where Deku nearly lost his quirk for good at the end to save Bakugo.
I thought that him being quirkless shouldn't stop him from being a hero tho. There are multiple characters who have quirks who would get killed pretty easily. Him getting some Iron Man type armor makes sense as opposed to him sitting away at a desk. He'll die pretty badly though one day

Watching Caped Crusader - I really like it so far. Way better than these live action spin-offs on tv.
Also Amazon prime is also offering Arkham knight for free? It’s worth getting if you haven’t played it yet.
Also Amazon ads aren’t too bad. It’s mostly other tv shows.

100% yes. One of my favorite games of all time. I actually just replayed it and finished it again and it was still good.
Great story as well. Stay away from spoilers.
You can usually get this game really cheap on Steam and PS Store sales. I got them on both platforms with all DLCs for like 5 bucks. For PS, it actually came with the remastered versions of Arkham Asylum and City.
If it's free from Amazon, definitely give it a shot.

Caped Crusader is A+ Batman work
Also, My Adventures with Superman is also really good
Batman is fairly mature adult and super violent. Like some of the things that happened actually shocked me.
Superman is more young adult, but the characters, action and story are just as solid. Lots of anime influences but it's Superman to the core.

Give it like 2 months, we'll be back. Egghead arc is legit Oda still at the top of his game, dude is the LeBron of mangaka
When Toei locks in, they really do the story justice. The quality has been massively improved lately, but it's still spotty. You can really tell they're stretching it. It's why I really want the East Blue arc that's in production to do well, cause even though it'd take a while, a consistently high quality One Piece adaptation would be incredible.

I think we discussed this before, but Toei's business model is outdated.
Fans and TV Tokyo may balk at this but at some point they need to end the weekly grind of One Piece and move to a 24 episode seasonal format, especially now as Oda hits the home stretch. Some of the stuff I'm seeing for what comes after this deserves high quality animation that comes from time, patience and not crunching animators. This is what they did with Daima and just based on the trailers it looks on par with the DB Super Broly film.
East Blue remake is going to push the envelope. Honestly, all the big properties need to be treated like Demon Slayer: Nothing gets announced or released until the bulk of the production is completed. The Infinity Castle sequence took two years to create. I think One Piece deserves that kind of care.

Unpopular opinion: I've always viewed MHA as overrated. I feel like the story has some dramatic peaks and valleys in terms of quality and being able to hold my interest. The final battle was a slog, and I have serious issues with how some of the female characters are treated.
I had no issue with the ending, it's kinda par for the course.

Yeah it had a high ceiling that it just couldn't reach. In basketball terms, MHA is the Andrew Wiggins of long running shonen manga
