In 3 years however, it's only top 9 protected. But if it doesn't convey by then (2027), it becomes a single 2nd round pick in 2027.

Must be the wizards pick that eventually becomes top 8 protected. I thought they both were. Guess not.

2024 first round draft pick from Dallas
Dallas' 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-10 in 2024 and 1-10 in 2025; if Dallas has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2025, then Dallas will instead convey its 2025 2nd round pick to New York [Dallas-New York, 1/31/2019]

2024 first round draft pick from Detroit
Detroit's 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-18 in 2024, 1-13 in 2025, 1-11 in 2026 and 1-9 in 2027; if Detroit has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2027, then Detroit will instead convey its 2027 2nd round pick to New York (via Houston to Oklahoma City) [Detroit-Houston, 11/24/2020; Houston-Oklahoma City, 7/30/2021; New York-Oklahoma City, 6/23/2022]

2024 first round draft pick from Washington
Washington's 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-12 in 2024, 1-10 in 2025 and 1-8 in 2026; if Washington has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2026, then Washington will instead convey its 2026 2nd round pick and 2027 2nd round pick to New York (via Houston to Oklahoma City) [Houston-Washington, 12/2/2020; Houston-Oklahoma City, 7/30/2021; New York-Oklahoma City, 6/23/2022]

2025 first round draft pick from Milwaukee
Milwaukee's 2025 1st round pick to New Orleans protected for selections 5-30 or to New York protected for selections 1-4 (Milwaukee's obligation to New Orleans or New York will thereafter be extinguished) (via New Orleans to Portland to Detroit to New York) [Denver-Milwaukee-New Orleans-Oklahoma City, 11/23/2020; New Orleans-Portland, 2/8/2022; Detroit-Portland, 7/6/2022; Detroit-New York, 7/6/2022]

You know, I used to think those 3 picks from Detroit, Washington and a bit of the Milwaukee one didn’t hold much value (and in the end they might not.) BUT, if Detroit and Washington can just slowly turn things around, they are just like this years Dallas pick. And if Giannas misses any time next year, that is another nice pick. You might say considering our team right now (being very good), those picks have more value than our firsts.

We are looking VERY VERY good going forward (as far as trade assets go.) And when you consider the salary cap and what a team can do (and where we are now – Great team), damn, we really can be championship team between now and the next few years.

Not making crazy moves and being patient really has worked out for us. Hopefully we get our health in order.

I’m not too sure if they’ll be useful for a trade but at some point we’ll need some guys in rookie contracts to make deals or to replace role players that get too expensive.

This is getting weak af. I was looking at MPG and games played from 02-03 vs. the last 2-3 years and it's such a joke. Guys were expected to play 82 games @ 40 minutes per. The NBA is in a sad state.

So does Hali get a pass for his comments?

He made it about the owners being happy but if you are a hard working middle class father who spends a week's paycheck to go to a game with his kid(s) to see their favorite players that instead decide to sit out because of some load management thing but he's worried about his millions on top of the millions he's already getting. That's pretty tone deaf tbh.

It's the fans who weren't happy spending their hard earned dollar and the stars they paid to see, don't play...not the owners.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I think it's a) ridiculous to think these guys are so entitled to think that availability isn't an important ability and b) that the people who make these awards would be allowing someone who plays less than 2/3 the season to compete for an award to begin with.
It does suck for Embiid who is having perhaps his most dominant year yet, but is on track to play about 55 games, to not have a shot at the awards. However, end of the day, he i missing 20+ games which is going to be tagging his team with 10+ losses. Meanwhile Jokic may be having a less impressive overall season, but he seems to be playing.

Considering how many times fans have been screwed paying for games only to see star players being scratched from games that they're perfectly healthy to play in, it's hard to feel sorry for players here.

Embiid definitely shouldn't have tried to play on a bad leg just to qualify for an award, that part sucks, but it's the after effect of teams abusing "DNP-Rest". Maybe the league will make exceptions for guys who are actually hurt going forward when it comes time to vote for year end awards.

Pop is an awesome coach but he used to bench his players for national tv games all the time. He's just as much to blame as any of the players. I remember there being so many times I was excited about spurs vs heat or some other elite team and he’d pull Parker, manu, and Duncan from the line up. I def laughed the first time it happened but the joke got old real fast.

The thing with that was he was (at the time) only doing it for guys who were more advanced in playing age. It's not typical that guys over 35 are winning these awards anyhow and Spurs were never "box office" so it wasn't that big of a deal. When Bron, Wade, etc were doing it in their primes... that's a problem.

This happened to me- my girlfriend at the time got us basically one in a lifetime courtside tickets for a Spurs Knicks national TV game and 'Pop', fantastic guy that he is, yanked the big 3 because he was in a dispute with Stern at the time.

Real d-bag move. Very arrogant individual.

Genuinely sorry to hear that.
