Putting everything aside, I really feel bad for thibs. I posted this in January, I seen it coming.

Well said.. same here. For as much as I’ve wanted him to be fired for basketball reasons, when it happened, I actually felt bad for him on a human level because of everything you mentioned.

I’m sure thibs will feel terrible while he’s cashing 30 million worth of checks in the next couple years. My heart really goes out to him lmao

I can understand this argument being made in certain cases like a player being traded or something, but I don’t think you can use it for everything to dehumanize rich people.

Jalen talked about how beautiful a house Thibs has, but that he never spends any time in it from early morning to late at night because he’s at the gym working. He’s a lonely old man with no wife or kids.. he’s married to the game. Sure he doesn’t have to stress about paying the bills, but the only thing he cares about in life (winning with this team) was taken from him. Gotta be pretty heartless not to feel something for the guy.

Yea there’s plenty of people out there going thru far worse that deserve our sympathies, but excluding him because he’s got money? Na, not me.

It’s not like the guys in the club with 10 girls every night or on a yacht overseas partying it up… if that were the case I’d be like yea he’ll be iight.

Former players all agree if you swapped coaches the Knicks win the series handily. So why is anyone complaining about the roster?

Do we have the best bench in the league, no. Do we need it? Also no. Because our top 1-4 competes with any other teams 1-4 if used correctly. In fact our top 1-4 overshadows 99% of other teams.

The fact that our starting lineup SHOULD be one of the best starting lineups in the league yet it was a net negative all year long because thibs is too stubborn to bench hart and insists on playing him 37 mins a night should be enough for thibs glazers to see the light.

It was time to move on. Thibs was a floor raiser and great for instilling a lunch pail/ work your tail off culture. He helped bring this organization back to respectability. But with this roster especially now with KAT it was time to move on. Now get the new coach right because that will be a HUGE factor in determining future overall success.

This is the nice way to say "the Knicks no longer have a lunch pail/work your tail off culture". Welcome to stars, divas, low IQs, and low effort. THE KNICKS ARE BACK BABY!

The marriage analogy is so perfect though. If you are inflexible and unwilling to make positive changes to make a relationship work, then if it all falls apart you need to look in the mirror.

You were right when you said winning is all that matters. So if it doesnt negatively impact that im cool with nepotism.

i really hate having brunson's dad on the staff. i would have fired him before firing thibs

Same, its embarrassing. It feels like it narrows the options. Cause no way a respected vet coach is gonna want to be forced to employ a stars dad on his staff. Its lil league type sht. That said its not a killer. But it definitely can cause problems with others in the locker room and limit options.

Its just the cost of doing business. Brunson took a way less than market value deal...if this is one of the few things we have to deal with its not the end of the world.

Is it ideal? no

Should it be a deal breaker for a coach? no

Also lets not kid ourselves Leon and Co. aren't going outside the CAA circle...they know the deal....

this also isn't the Knicks signing JR Smith brother...Rick Brunson has been a legit NBA coach for a while. Its not like he isn't qualified for the role like Chris Smith was for a roster spot.

If that’s how you want to take it I guess. He’s just saying the same thing everyone has been saying. We have a roster suited for the modern game. We have a big who fits in perfectly with 2020s basketball. We need someone with a modern mind to realize the full potential.

If we were back in 2008 where teams sucked at shooting 3s and everyone ran paint mashing centers then sure let’s keep thibs around. But we’re over a decade past that. Let’s get with the times.

I get it. I just think its not something to be ignored and can lead to our downfall. Wasn't something brought up yesterday as to how some players are frustrated with Rick and that he has a lot of sway with the company. How is his influence and power going to impact a young rookie coach. There could be a power dynamic there that undermines a new young coach.

If it doesn't impact winning- fck it. Nepo away. Im cool with doing whatever it takes to win. We get baby Brunson at a discount to let his pops be the annoying sports dad who lives through his kid cool. But it definitely adds a complexity to the mix that makes this sht more flammable.

I just think some are fishing for stories...they see thibs got fired and they are looking for anything to get clicks.

The entire team went out partying the other day to celebrate there season I don't see much a riff between the players.

Like you said as long as we are winning the CAA/Nepo thing won't matter. As long as we have Brunson running the show I don't think we should be worried. He is not someone who will slip up and let this fall apart.
