I don't hate WCS as a prospect but, I'm not a fan of losing 65 games for him... He's not a superstar, at least in my view, and it would piss me off beyond no end if we pick him at 4, especially, since we can most likely trade down to pick him and get an extra asset in the process if he is who we really want.

I have ZERO issues with WCS but I wouldn't take him top 4. I would look at him in a trade down situation to either #6 or #7 - for example where we pick up another asset (PG/SG) and retain a high 1st round pick. Fill 2 starting spots with 1 draft slot.

We have a GLARING need for a big that can do the things Willie does --- I don't get the hate for him. We also have a glaring need for overall roster talent/depth.

I think he has a bigger defensive & offensive impact in the NBA with the up and down game along with the predominant screen and roll action used in the pros. I think he'll be positioned closer to the basket in the NBA and his impact will be greater.

Want some type of younger PG/SG and WCS.

We do both of these at the some of the lowest rates in the league tho, and we have no point guard to set him up for easy looks. He can't anchor our defense as a rookie. I think that his impact would be mitigated on our team

a theory could also be that the kings desperately want to move ahead of the magic to draft WCS.

Collison, McLemore, Gay, WCS, and Cousins would be a pretty solid 5 for sacremento.

The knicks know Orlando would then either take Porzingas or Winslow. You obviously run the risk of Orlando trading out of 5 and someone picking mudiay at 5. But Phil could be more than Comfortable with landing Winslow at 6 if Mudiay doesn't fall there.

In the process you could probably get some decent assets (maybe 1 or 2) and possible shed calderons deal to free up 2 max spots which could be Phil's real goal.

You would have close to 35 million to spend and could possibly go and offer 2 max deals as a 2 for 1 offer.

There is absolutely no advantages to leaking who you want to pick before the draft. There is however advantages to leaking info to get teams worried and make trades.

I'm not drafting WCS ahead of Mudiay. I like Russell, but I haven't been convinced we can win games with him-his struggles against teams like Michigan St, Wisconsin, and Arizona have me concerned as to how he translates as a pro. It would really suck if we got Russell and he turned out to be Evan Turner, and that's my main worry with him.

I've seen a lot of people with the same worry that Russell could become the next Evan Turner. I doubt that ever happens tho. The main thing separating them as prospects is that Russell is an elite shooter, he makes shots of the dribble at a very good rate, and his vision is incredible. Turner can't shoot, and he really does nothing well except for maybe rebounding. Russell just has that confidence about him...he's already declaring himself the best player in this draft and said multiple times throughout his college season that no one can guard him. He also had a very sh*tty team...I mean, his PF was 6 ft 4, and his center couldn't catch, rebound, or finish. His PG and SF both couldn't shoot...yet he still put up big time numbers. He won't face that same attention in the NBA, the court will be spread, and he'll have more transition opportunities. Yes, the NBA is filled with great defenders, but it's not like guys are hounding players full court and defending like their lives depended on it. I see plenty of open shots and open lanes throughout every NBA game. Russell will find his spots and should be able to score pretty well. I expect something like 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists on 43-37-84 shooting splits his rookie season.

Who would you draft between Russell and Mudiay?

Who would you draft between Russell and Mudiay?

It's really hard to decide. I would probably take Mudiay over him now. They both have their pros and cons. I think that Mudiay has a higher ceiling than Russell, and if he had an above average jumper then it wouldn't even be a discussion between the 2. Mudiay just has less disadvantages entering the league than Russell does. Russell is my favorite out of the 2 tho because I love watching him play.

honestly you can't believe this...

1. how the f*ck does chad freakin ford know?

2. what advantages does provide the knicks to leak who they want. If Chad Ford is getting this information from a league source that it is probably planned by the knicks to drum up interest from the teams behind them with interest in WCS for possible trades.

You may be right on these points I'm not sure but he sure seems to play hard - my question is will he play smart.

The thing I think some are understating with Willie is that he often played away from the basket defensively at UK.
I think he will play closer to the rim/lane at the NBA level and I think you may see his rebounding and shot-blocking increase.

I think he is a suspect post defender right now but with time I don't see why he can't become outstanding in that aspect. He also got toasted off the dribble by Kaminsky in the championship game -- I think that can be corrected as well as he basically over-reacted and bit on ball fakes and spin moves.

With his size/athleticism/length and motor I think it's just a matter of time that he becomes a beast.

I also think he's got some significant upside offensively. I doubt he's ever a true post up player but he'll be able to put the ball in the basket.

I said 100 times we can't go wrong in this draft I really believe that. Think about it people say you need a star with the 4th pick. Can you say for sure any of the players in that area will be a star? So to me if you pick Wcs it make sense 7footers who rebound and play defense is needed look at Monsgov with the cavs. Winslow a wing or 2 who play D run the floor good first step play with heart. Mudiay fast can jump out the gym nice handle 6.5 point. super MArio great jump shot real hoping jumping ability plays with a chip I like him too. Frank the tank 7 footers with a great jump shot and rebounds well. The 7 euro some people think can be the best out of them all. I'm saying if you in the top 8 picks this year your getting a good player. Just be happy we picked a good year to suck. We will have a 4 mil player who will be good and most likely start for us. Just set back relax and hope for the best. We in a good position for the first time in years.

it's really still not enough to move the "mudiay" selection because what is Collison and McLemore really going to help us with? We don't need to worry about depth right now. We need a 2nd and 3rd star. Hopefully the rookie will be one and then we gotta pray to land a big FA.
