SVG is terrible at contract negotiations, but he keeps winning trades.

Yeah but will he have "won the trade" when he gives AB a 5-year $140MM contract or whatever he is going to get? He will then fit in well with all the other bad contracts they have... and the owners can pay $50MM a year in luxury tax for a 7th seed.

The problem isn't the player it's the contract. Now isn't the time to dish out big contracts unless they're 2-3 years at most. We haven't gotten to that point. We need contracts that can be moved for whatever reason, assests, and for some stupid reason (I know so Atlanta won't match), we put in a trade kicker

Yassssssss

When we get all these old asses of our team in a year

We running and gunning

i honestly think this a cool, calculated risk sort of move. if THJ doesn't continue to improve, we have him as he is (quick, athletic, explosive, streaky but quality shooter) barely entering his prime on a contract that will only be an 'overpay' for the duration of our rebuild

like, i'm actually sitting here waiting for news that the hawks won't match

- Next year is a wing heavy draft. Address the 3 next year.

Why you are not on board with small ball? We cant have KP chasing perimeter players all his career

I want KP at the 5 as much as anyone, but what do we do with Willy? I've always been cool with trading him if it can net us a young wing.

I am cool with it too, they can share the minutes and have spot minutes together vs certain matchups like Thunder did in playoffs with Kanter Adams

not quite 30. But I watched alot of hawks and Bucks b/c I was hoping for Timmy or preferably Middleton. Still didn't think Timmy would get broke off like that.

I'm pretty sure Detroit is hard capped now and would have to move salary to match anything over 16.5 for KCP.

The contract isn't bad though.
The cap is insane.
Mofo's are making over 30 per year. Timmy is on a fair deal.

Can we please stop using PPG as a metric that correlates to anything.

I am not saying that PPG is the indicator of how good a player is. You can easily remove my last statement, and still come to the conclusion, that the two players are very different players. I believe Hardaway is a much better, and valuable player than Holiday, but my main argument is really that outside of being wing players and somewhat comparable body type, there really isn't much comparable between the two. Hardaway has the skillset and mindset of being a legit offensive second or third option, Holiday has not.

Tim Hardaway commanding enough shots to be your second option on offense is a good way to compete for being the worst team in the NBA.

Holliday as a bench wing that could score efficiently enough to command minutes for no cost was a better alternative, imo.

Unless Hardaway improves a lot, we are not gonna be a good playoff team with Hardaway as a second option. That i agree with. But he does have the potential to be a really good offensive weapon. Holiday doesn't.

With the Holiday contract you propably gets more value per dollar. But the entire point is, that they are so different players that was never a reason to choice between them that way. Holiday is a defensive bench player. Hardaway has clearly developed into a starter with good offensive skills.
