There was never going to be a white knight 3rd team willing to take on Anderson. Melo I think knows this and it circles back to him holding all the cards. He knows his value is **** and he knows the only way the Knicks can move on is by writing him a 60 million dollar check. The NTC is up there with the Eddy Curry trade in terms of pure idiocy.

Your fabrications are getting more desperate every day

The Knicks not wanting Anderson is a fabrication? I doubt it.

sorry houston and portland we're not trading our all-star to take on one of your garbage ass contracts. melo wants to go to houston he got all the power to bounce next summer.

yeah, instead of garbage contract we choose to stagger our youth development and worse pick in the lottery. Great trade.

yeah ryan anderson or meyers leonard are ideal mentors

morey better come correct with an offer or GTFO

$30 million to blow on Tim Hardaway Jr Part 2. I don't trust Mills with cap space.

Low seed in the playoffs = terrible and unhelpful.

Top 3 pick = saving grace for this franchise

The thing is with NTC the deal isn't going to magically get better. The 3rd and 4th teams will move on the closer it gets to season.

How Sway?
He's gonna refuse to play?
If he's mad he's gonna NOT opt out to spite us?
SP got this.

He could say Houston only take the Cavs out so you lose the other team. And then worst of all he can be on the roster at the start of the season. 71 mil dollar man on the bench

Ok, then HE comes off the bench in favor of our yoof movement.
He would come off as a big time loser and he wouldn't get his numbers--which we know matter.
I think he still gets traded but Houston's genius GM needs to come up with something better.
And maybe after SP and Leon Rose chop it up some, Melo expands his list of demands. Everyone is so worried about not gutting the team they go to or not leaving their team high and dry in their exit. Melo didn't care about us gutting our team for him and now he doesn't care what we get on the way out?

Nah B. You still under contract. And he's gonna wanna play. If we Steph Marbury him (and refuse to play him) what can he do?
The worst thing we can do is take back garbage for him. The second worst, stretch him....after that? Really no loss for us.

it's not about that though. it's about salary matching. and ariza has to go. mecca is right.

We just hired a gm so you already knew trade talks had stalled. If for nothing else to get this new guy into the fray.

If Houston really wanted to figure it out, they'd move Ariza or Capela in the deal.

They went together pretty damn well. I would love to know their record together with Melo at the 4. Probably at least 25 games over .500.

I'm off tmrw so maybe I'll tally it up.

Were you in Tahiti for the Pacers playoff series?

I'm talking about the regular season

Tyson was awful in every playoff series for us. Everyone knows that

So a nba team is suppose to have 1 solo scorer? Smh

If Jeff can get the team on board with team ball your statement is relevant.

I have tons of faith in Hornacek reinventing Melo from an isolation scorer to a team ball specialist at 33 years of age.

Nobody is saying melo is going to be lebron, Melo obviously never had a team where he didn't have to jack up shots for the knicks

Kp is in his 3rd year, hardway is coming into his own, name 2 players mel has played with ever on the knicks that had the scoring and team 1st mentally of thjr and kp...... ill wait

Ian Begley @IanBegley
Only Carmelo knows if he's still open to saying in NY at this point. But people around him said earlier this week that he was ready for HOU.

It's better than making a deal just to make a deal. I get the frustration but if we were receiving proposals that sucked, better to keep him and possibly move him later in summer or during the year.

If you dont want a terrible contract like Anderson, you're not getting anything other than a buyout to get him off the roster. Carmelo's value is rock bottom and he's using it as leverage. The guy swindled the Knicks worse than Revis swindled Woody the second time around.

Fine so let him leave after this year. 29m off the cap. Aren't we finished with making bad deals? Who knows what's going on but no deal is better than a bad deal. There is still plenty of time. It's July.

It's a gamble

They're banking on the fact that CP3 really wants Melo there, and since he isn't committed long term, that puts pressure on them to make win-now moves to convince him to stay

Plus, nobody of Melo's caliber is left on the trade block, or in free agency

Risk is great, but the reward is possibly a good haul for a player we thought we weren't getting anything for

I don't even understand what the risk is. Either we get something we want for him from the Rox, Cleveland steps up and makes a real offer, either team gets desperate in Feb and gives up more, or Melo exercises his ETO and he's off the books next summer.

What is the major risk?

From the Shelbourne article...

Anthony has been fully focused on getting a deal done, especially with advanced talks that surrounded Houston. The Rockets were working on a four-team trade with the Knicks that had gained traction throughout the week, league sources said.

What does that even mean? He can't trade players, make signings, convince someone to give up picks, etc...

He's just sitting on a couch checking his phone like the rest of us

What is the major risk?

The risk is if we don't trade him, and he starts the season with us, what happens if he has another sub-par year?
Or if he gets injured?
Both those scenarios lead to us either not being able to trade him, or the trade being even worse than what we would get now. Plus, in that case he would not exercise his ETO, as his next contract would not nearly be as lucrative, which caps us out next offseason

VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

They still can be.

What are you risking by playing Melo 25 MPG?

It makes no sense for him to be here. I literally can't come up with a logical reason in my head.

I personally do not believe that Anthony staying will hurt KP's development. I would argue that Anthony's presence takes heat off KP.

The major problem with KP last season was that his skill level on offense was not sufficiently developed, particularly in terms of the big man game - and on nights when he wasn't burying the three point shot, he was generally starting off terribly.

The other major problem with KP last season was the terrible PG play of Rose.

If the Knicks are likely to be taking back schlock under the current trade scenarios, then they are wise to be considering the option of bringing Anthony back.
