You can't offload Noah without giving up an asset. A major one at that.

Since when did Carmelo stop becoming a major asset? OKC got him for a song. Kanter has at best neutral value so you essentially traded him for a 2nd round pick.

Melo absolutely becomes a negative asset if you demand Noah be included.

Picks have more value now, which is why the majority of trades recently didn't include any,

Noahs another big contract. OKC didn't have the cap space to absorb Noah even if they wanted to.

Also.. Melo is on the wrong side of 30. Nowhere near the athlete he used to be. So definitely not a major asset.

Just saw the news, what a shocker.

Not a bad deal, not a great deal, I think it's a good one.

OKC gets more scoring in a 3rd option and Knicks get even to help to tank.

We weren't getting a first for Melo because.....we just weren't. Look at some of the trades that happened this year (PG, Butler), no firsts were traded away. With Melo having his NTC & only wanting to go to specific teams that further complicated that.

It's surreal Mel is gone, he's been here for 7 seasons, been a long time. Personally as someone who rooted for him in high school, rooted for him in college, rooted for him in Denver and seeing him play on my favorite team it's been awesome seeing him here.

A lot of what if's & dissappointments with him here but all in all it's been great to see my favorite player play for the Knicks.

I'm actually surprised he agreed to waive his clause for a team that didn't have one of his buds. Guess he was tired of losing. Smart move, and definitely will be interesting to watch and see that team develop.
