The NY (and general) basketball media got you fans right where they want - in the palm of their hands. August is a dead month for bball, so what do they: they focus on a small story and keep stirring the pot. Unfortunately for NYK fans, it creates a negative atmosphere coming into the season.

Why are you so focused on this non-story? Isiah is NOT BECOMING GM.

Go read the CBA! Go read about upcoming talent...and post about that! NO, you will not...because you're stuck on this drama. Sometimes I really wonder why many of you follow basketball (and sports). You're the reason athletes act like divas. You care about the off-court drama, the hyped-up non-stories that the media fabricate.

Stop embarrassing yourselves! Enough with an Isiah thread every hour!

maybe there is some truth that melo told Isiah he'll sign with the knicks in 2011.

If Isiah does become GM and melo comes to the knicks; then EVERYONE will be loving Zeke.

"He's the best GM" or "I always knew he was good" blah blah blah

NY Post is going to say "In Zeke we Trust"

Zeke messed up thinking he can develop Curry into a superstar Center. His whole tenure with the knicks all relied on Eddy Curry. Zeke wanted Curry to be a force and command double teams so he can kick it out Q-rich or Steph or Francis for the open jumper.

Unfortunetly it didnt work because curry has no desire for the game; his offseason for development was nil and that hurt us as well as Zekes reputation.
I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.

Can we have this as a sticky?

Good to see that there's at least one more person smart enough to look beyond the BS.

the knicks don't need isiah to get carmelo. i'm sure amar'e has more power than isiah when it comes to carmelo, because of their friendship.

Good point. Amar'e, MSG, the Five Boroughs, and a little bit of winning this season is all you need for Melo if he is willing to take on the challenge.

As far as Melo, I don't see a D-Bag type who cares about whether Isiah is in the organization (like a fool like Maverick Carter). I mean really, who cares? The whole thing is stupid.

The man who has put the team together and acted with financial restraint and savvy to make Melo (and Paul) possible and to put the Knicks in this position -- Donnie Walsh -- should be more than enough for any superstar looking where to play. Especially when you compare Donnie's smart work to the track record of Isiah Thomas. Do you want an intelligent person running the show who can help the Knicks get to the promised land or a self-centered maniac who doesn't care about the Knicks 1/10th as much as he cares about himself?

And personally, I find it to be borderline racist to think that an African-American ballplayer simply wants an African-American or former ballplayer, whichever it is, in order to go to any place. Melo's coach and GM in Denver were white and I don't think he ever complained about that fact. And if Melo is holding out for Isiah (it's laughably not true IMHO), then I'll go so far as to say I don't want him. We want talented players who want to be in NY for the right reason: Not because Isiah Thomas is there.

It's my opinion that Melo wants to make sure that good people are in charge where he is going, not Isiah Thomas just because he's Isiah Thomas.

BTW I'd rather have Kenny Smith on board and I think he's looking for a front office job. Kenny is no great shakes either but at least he has a brain and probably won't sexually harass his assistants.

Isola brought up a great point on ESPN. If players were flocking to teams because they have former superstars in charge then everyone would be in Charlotte and Indiana.

If Larry Bird and Michael Jordan aren't the main draw to play in those cities then no one's coming to NY for Isiah Thomas.

Isiah: Donnie can I have a job?
Walsh: No.
Isiah: Jimmy can I have a job?
Dolan: Did you ask Donnie?
Isiah: Yeah, but he said no.
Dolan: Welcome back, Zeke.

Yeah, Walsh has final say......

i think Isiah Thomas is extremely over hyped on this board. As a player he is an all-time great and many players respect him from that point. Players today are not at all stupid, they or someone in there team have noticed that as President n HC of NBA teams and owner of the CBA he is at his worst. That smurk he has makes him very classless. What player would want to come here n play for very dumb GM? Having him doesn't help us at all but only hurts us, our credability as a organization.

Very Good post. The only drama is the one the media has painted for everyone to see.

And when people read between the lines of the McGrady trade it meant we were getting Lebron and Bosh. Sometimes you should just read the lines.
