I think the trade will be announce all-star weekend. I truely believe the deal is already done. Denver wants a few more wins before the trade. Melo wants to PLAY in the all-star game (theres probably a bonus in his contract too associated with all-star appearances). Everything is quiet which is great news if your a Knicks fan.

What great timing.. this would be awesome to go into Miami with Amare Melo Felton and whatever else we have left over and start our true new era off with a W against the Lecon and the cHeat

So if we get Melo do any of you think Dantoni is going to tweak the offense, or do you think Melo is the one who would have to adjust? Maybe meet halfway? What adjustments do you see happening and/or how would you do it?
I see Melo just taking over Chandler's role if Chandler gets dealt. Pretty simple to me. Melo is a good catch and shoot guy so we could bring him off screens/curls, like the downscreen we always use with Gallo on the wing. We could also put Melo in the double high post with Amare. We will prob have Melo and Amare on different sides of the court as much as we can for spacing and to minimize doubling. They both can go nuts from mid range on their side and the defense would be on skates trying to guard em both. Thats how I picture it. I also have this feeling Melo is going to improve his 3 pt shooting, since thats all we seem to practice here
.
Theres going to be more pressure on Felton to get them the ball though. Neither Melo or Amare are great playmakers. Its not their strength. They are scorers at heart and thats what they should do. Attack all day. Felton is going to need a more pass first mentality. Still be a threat on the PnR but hes going to have to put these guys in the best positions to score. I want him to hit them in motion/rhythm. Find them cutting. Above all he needs to push the ball because we know Melo can run. If Felton can do that we should be rollin in no time. Hes the biggest key in my eyes.
My preference is still to keep Gallo/Fields/Mozgov over Chandler/Randolph. Im sure Donnie/Dantoni feel the same. We would be onto something if we kept all 3.

I want to see melo run the pick and roll with amare.. defenses would have a hard time defending that

I dont see Melo running the pick and roll. What i do see is being on the wing for it.
See this clip.
Melo gets the ball on the wing in a very similar manner to Gallo/Chandler.

Melo is going to have to improve his 3 pt shooting a little bit. We'll see if he does.
Check this article from NBAPlaybook.com. Says Melo is best used off the ball...
Nuggets Play to Carmelo's Strengths Against Pacers
After a rough start, Carmelo Anthony really got going and had the best game of his season this year, going 14-27 (including 6-8 from the three point line) and scoring 36 points in basically three quarters (took just two shots in the fourth quarter) against the Pacers. If you didn’t watch the game, you probably are assuming that Anthony did a whole lot of jab-stepping with the basketball in ISO sets last night.
However, that wasn’t the case, as the Nuggets used Anthony in more Spot-Up situations than ISO situations last night, playing to Anthony’s strengths and going away from his weaknesses. Anthony is extremely successful in Spot-Up situations, shooting 44.6% and ranking 30th in the entire NBA in terms of Points Per Possession. The problem, Anthony has only used Spot-Up situations on 9.2% of his possessions this season, preferring to run ISO sets (37.5% of his possessions this season) even though he isn’t as successful (39.4% shooting – 89th in NBA with 0.82 PPP). Last night, that wasn’t the case:
The way that Carmelo Anthony was used against the Pacers was completely different than the way he has been used over the course of this season. 29.7% of Anthony’s possessions against the Pacers were possessions labeled by Synergy as “Spot-Ups,” while just 18.5% of Anthony’s possessions used were ISO sets.
Instead of just giving the ball to Anthony and watching him pivot and work out of the ISO against the Pacers, the Nuggets used Carmelo Anthony off of the basketball, ran action involving other players, and forced the defense to make a decision. Specifically, the Nuggets ran pick and rolls with Carmelo Anthony on the opposite side of the court. 5 of the 8 Spot-Ups that were ran for Anthony came this way. This forced the defense to decide whether or not to sink in on the help man or stick with Carmelo Anthony:
As Chauncey Billups brings the basketball up, Kenyon Martin gets in position and sets a screen for Billups. The Nuggets are running a Pick and Roll on one side while Carmelo Anthony is standing in the corner on the opposite side of the court.
Melo should only Iso as a last resort. If we keep him moving and put him in catch and shoot situations I think you'll see his FG% sky rocket. Dantoni will make it work.

If we get him and get to keep Gallo, Fields, and Mozz I am happy. If we have to give up one of those guys I will be very disappointed. And if we don't get him and have to wait till free agency I'm fine with that...

So you basically want Melo to turn into Lebron.

The Denver board is comprised of gameday threads with three posts (not pages) on each. The three posts are usually written by the same mod or two.
That board should be contracted.

Haha. The Carmelo and Nene pick and roll is one of the Nuggets best plays, but the problem is they rarely run it. They use Carmelo in a lot of ISO sets and usually when he runs the pick and roll with someone other than Nene, the defense usually double team him and force him backwards.
If Carmelo comes here, I want to see him work more at the top of the key instead of the wing because it limits the double team and gives him more space to operate.
