This board doesn't mind that Melo shot 9/27 because he made some FT's....

he absolutely did not get out talented. all of those role players could have been contained. especially with the players the knicks could've used to contain them. all those role players do is one thing and one thing only. all they had to do was stop that. TC did a great job on Howard and did not have to be double teamed.

he was clearly out coached and not out talented at all

Tough loss. We didn't shoot ball well enough late to keep it close and maybe eek it out. I thought we did a heck of a job defensively on Howard. I thought Amar'e got a bad break getting into quick foul trouble. NBA officiating horrible and inconsistent, what's new?

That charging foul called on Fields (they got that one right) on the break was a back-breaker. If we score there we might have won the game. Instead Orlando gets ball back and kinda finished us off after that.

I don't have confidence we can ever integrate Melo and Amar'e sucessfully into offense with Dantoni coaching and without a PG...

Chandler is the one guy who has a brain and knows switching on every screen is (Please Use More Appropriate Word). If I were him, I'd keep doing what is right and not what the idiot coaching staff tells me to.

First , we play a good defensive game.. not sure how the heck we let the bozo trio of anderson, stankylu and reddick, look like the celtics big 3, but just inexecusable..

the offense is still all melo, bail us out iso's, but at times we did have some good ball movement...

My big beef is with 6 minutes left, the magic go to a zone, and what does dantoni do? he goes with douglas? really, why not bring in harrelson along with novak.. why did we get him dantoni??? why!!!!!!!!!!! sit chandler, dwight was doing nothing, plus he can't hit FT's.. let amare guard dwight and let melo create and hit novak and jorts for shots.. shoot them out of the zone..

Honestly, if dantoni is going to mail it in.. just quit dude, QUIT!!! I watched vangundy go from Q richardson to earl clark trying to find matchups that work.. what do we do? we bench the best shooters while being stifled by zone...

yea, the players share some of the blame, amare still doesn't look comfortable, we missed open shots, but honestly, the coach didn't give us a chance to win....

To me, just trash the season if dantoni is going to mail it in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give Chandler a break man, he played an excellent defensive game against Howard. If Chandler steps out on the shooters, Howard has a 30-20 game. Pick your poison.

i'll take howard with 30 points rather than anderson with 30 and reddick and turkoglu with whatever they had.

Howard with 30 in a win is much better than Anderson with 30 in a loss. Yep.

Most were good shots, he forced at the end because nobody else could make anything.

Looks like my post disappeared. But our team has no point guard and no outside shooting. D'Antoni's system is worthless here.

Said it in the game thread - Van Gundy makes D'Antoni like a corpse.

On defensive and offensive end there was bad things but I think also some good things. Saw movement and more chemistry building, teamwork.. and hopefully Baron can add to what we can bring as a group from what I've seen..

Onto the next one..

Positives

-Tyson played Howard PERFECTLY (with help from doubles, obviously)
-Melo got to the FT line
-Amar'e looked good in the 4th quarter
-Shump played well
-TONEY played well -- he should play like this every game -- style/attacking/etc (MPHARRIS, where you at!)
-Jorts gave good minutes
-Jared Jeffries played better than I ever expected him to play
-Moved the ball very nicely for the first 3 quarters
-Defense (aside from 3s)

Cons
-Couldn't get their shooters off the 3 point line...inexcusable defense. Miami and the 6ers are both willing to concede the mid-range jumper in order to keep the opposing team from shooting threes...why the f*ck can't we do that?
-Amar'e early foul trouble
-Couldn't get them out of their zone (Novak/Jorts?)
-Team missed open shots all game long
-Very little ball movement for us in the 4th (prior to the zone)

Oy...we had this...and we blew this.

Unless we lose all 3 games on this home stand, I don't think Mike is going anywhere. Unfortunately I think we are stuck with him all season.

you're not gonna take out melo/tyson/amare at the end of a game. he could have brought in bibby. seriously though, not just in the 4th, we need our guards to make jumpers. it's the only reason they could stay in the zone. nobody can shoot.
