The thing is Amare definetly has the quickness and jumpshot to become like Hakeem. I am actually shocked that he has never worked on his post game. Its really telling actually of today's game. Other than maybe Gasol, I don't think any big man has a decent post game. Big man development has really dropped off since the 90s.

In a recent Simmons podcast, Horry was on and said, before that game, Olajuwon was fuming and repeatedly kept saying how it was his MVP.

Hakeem's moves can't really be taught really, it takes many years to master. The dude just had a natural feel for the game.

It's definitely good news, but to be honest, I was hoping to hear that Amare and Melo would spend the summer working out together. They need to build up their chemistry and know each other's spots like the back of their hands. The two of them developing a solid two-man game is crucial to our success.

Anything involving Hakeem Olajuwon has to be positive. The man was unique.

Let's not get carried away here bro. Someone else might have something to say about that:

But seriously though:

Dream was incredible though and it can only be a good thing for Stat and Tyson to learn from him.

In two summers with Olajuwon, Howard has only learned how to do a drop step and a mid-range bank shot. I don't know if that'll help STAT that much, unless Olajuwon teaches him how to box out effectively, but this session should improve Tyson's game tremendously from just dunking.

Dwight has the drop step with either hand going to the middle and to the bank shot. His problem is his touch isn't great (aside from the occasional running hook) and he can be somewhat mechanical.

While I don't expect either player to have Hakeem-esque moves next season, it 's only gonna help.

Trained with him 2 years ago IIRC. Hakeem actually helped A LOT.

Agreed. No offense to Patrick Ewing, I know he did great with Howard, but watching Howard after his summer with the Dream, I saw a big difference.

The thing about this training is Stat and TC are both fairly agile for bigs. Stat can learn a thing or two from The Dreams illusive misdirection moves, that was a direct result of his agility. I can see that translating better with Stat than with DHoward.

Also hope that TC can pick up on The Dreams patience as a defender. Both up high on the pick and roll and in shot blocking attempts. Hakeem was disciplined and often avoided senseless fouls because of it.

Defensively, I pray Stat can just get motivated to play D as a result of this experience.

stat has quick feet, but its as if the guy's software only knows how to do one or two things, everything else does not compute for the guy.

that's how it was always going to be. their perimeter defense is second to none. everyone else is serviceable.
