I can believe that, as it pertains to you. I'm saying there would be just as many people looking to dissect even those words into something more, had he said that.. Whether it's taking what he said, or what he did not say - it would be something.. It's just the way it is for him in NY.

took too long to reply...

It honestly sounds as if some want Melo to kiss Lin's butt.

Get out of here... Respect, Courtesy, and a little appreciation for the kid that spared his reputation. Do you know how bad it would have been for Melo if we hadn't made the playoffs?
I don't think a lot of these posters here remember, but for what it's worth, we were a count hair from not making the playoffs. That count hair happened to be Jeremy Lin. Before he showed up, we were in shambles. I was just about to give up on the season. If the hate for the max cats we have is strong now, can you imagine if we didn't make it? Unbelievable. While D'Antoni would've gotten the brunt of it, there would've been enough anger to spread around for both Melo and Amare.

People don't remember how absolutely EFFING miserable the team was and everything surrounding the team was.

Remember the Melo soundbite?

"It sucks," Anthony later said. "The situation we're in right now sucks. Losing basketball games sucks. The way we've been losing games at the end of the game sucks --- not a good feeling right now."

That's what I'm saying... Look, I hope no one gets me wrong... Actually, I don't care if anyone gets me wrong, but for my own sanity I want to clarify my position... Lin is not our savior. As strongly as I've advocated for his matching, I never thought he was. However, at worst, he is an asset. He is the flavor of the month. He can be turned around for depth, picks... whatever another team lacking a point guard would be willing to give. At this point in time, if we were to match him, that would be one position we would be deep at. (Not saying we have other worldly talent there, but if someone needed change, we have singles.) Without him, we would be old, lumpy and unproven. With him, we'd be the same, but with some promise.

It just so happens that this unproven guy went on a 25 game streak, where he played unbelievably so, when we were on our last life line. Our last drop in a bucket before we called it a season, and went into a turbulent offseason. The kid was placed in a position where he couldn't lose, but was not expected to win, and came through in spades. Flash in the pan, one hit wonder, twenty five cents out of a dollar, you ride that quarter till your last man. You can't just give him up like that. That's all I'm saying as far as he goes.

As far as Melo goes... He's his own man. He has the right to say what he wants to say, and play how he wants to play. He's earned that right. On the same token, he is THE STAR on a BIG MARKET TEAM. He's not Deron Williams playing for our sister club, or Eric Gordon playing for the Hornets. He, above everyone else, should know that his words will be magnified to the umpteenth, and should shape his thoughts accordingly.

It's one thing to get a quote from a baked out JR, shoot... he outperformed his expectations last season, anything else we get out of him is gravy. If Melo wants to be considered in the same category of one of the greats (overall... because his talent is undeniable) then there is some things he needs to shape up with. It just so happens dealing with the media came this offseason.

!$#@ this post was a lot longer than I wanted it to be. If you read it thanks. If not. Cool too.

This might be the only way to beat Miami... they'd be laughing so hard at that line up that they'd all pull their abs and forfeit.

Does anyone else think we got Ray Felton as a decoy in order to destroy Stephen A. Smith? Think about it; it makes a lot of sense.

Bring Felton in, Stephen A. Smith gets right to it and announces all over ESPN that his sources (his grandmother) have said that we are not signing Lin. When we finally do sign Lin, everyone will hate Stephen A. even more and no one will listen to him. STEPHEN A. SMITH WILL BE GONE FOR GOOD!

You guys are reading waaaaaay too much into Melo's comments.

The same way you were reading waaaaaay too much into them when the initial "ridiculous" quote came out.

Very possible.

Stat, Shump plus 1st rounder for Howard or Chris Paul

Stat + 1st rounder + filler for Dirk

Stat for Turkoglu + J-Rich and 1st rounder

Stat + Felton/Lin + 1st rounder for Paul + filler

there are still some chances to trade him... but I think that the FO will give him the chance to prove himself he can play with Melo and Tyson at least until Feb deadline
