If Lebron could be paid his fair value some teams in the league would gladly pay $40m + for him. Lebron making 14m has nothing to do with his value as a player, which you are using to compare to Harden. Lebron deliberately took a lower salary.

Would you rather have Harden at 16 or Amare at 20? Case closed.

Honestly, neither at their price.

I'm actually amazed at these small markets not showing any restraint to their spending.

David Stern screwed the league. Harden should be on the Thunder. This whole luxury tax thing is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and it's going to backfire because it just separates the rich from the poor even more.

Considering what Stephen Curry and Eric Gordon got this is a steal.

Not sure what the owners accomplished with the lockout - although perhaps they think that this is all ultimately monopoly money given the provisions of the CBA that cap the players share of income.

Im not amazed. HOU in particular managed their assets well enough and that's why they were able to offer Harden the max, and they'll do it again this summer.

I dont neccesarily agree with the Harden signing but the market determined his value. That's really the only thing that matters.

It's a big contract, but Harden will probably come closer to being worth it than Rudy Gay, Joe Johnson, Stoudemire, etc. He is only 23.

Since when does position ranking determine a player's value? Let's say the 10th best SF is better than the 3rd best SG (which Harden is not btw), should they both get paid 16M per season?

Centers have been getting by like this for a long time though tbh...7 ft tall = money in the bank.

A player's value is determined by the difference between his impact compared to a "replacement level" type player (which would be a D-Leaguer that fills the same role/position). So yes it does matter, and to jump on what j4remi said, is why Centers get paid.

Didn't y'all see the Morey/Harden trade press conference? It looked like Morey thought he had just sign MJ in his prime. He was also talking about having enough cap room to add another MAX player.

Al Jefferson, your MAX contract is coming soon from Mr. Morey.

$80 mil/5 yrs for Harden is a ridiculous contract, but Morey is a idiotic douche so this was bound to happen. Harden is about as close to a star as Monta Ellis or Kevin Martin are/were.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...

Thats a lot of dough, but Harden is earning that check. 23 with a nice all-around game. Not onlybased on this game, but its a good, maybe even great move by Houston. Its hard to get players like that

Harden - 37 Points 6 Reb 12 Asst 4 Stl 1 Blk 4 TO + 18.

I'd say he was worth every penny. Wow.

Not a bad game by Lin either.

12 Pts 8 Asst 4 Reb 4 Stl 4 To

Would have done better if it wasn't for almost fouling out and sitting the 3rd quarter.

But the most important stat....Houston was down 10 points with Lin on the bench. Lin came back in, they cut the the lead and win....just like his time here with the Knicks. He was +23 tonight. :o

Rockets bench is trash though.

Because we have Toney Douglas and Marcus Morris leading us to failure.

Toney Douglas needs to be shipped to the D-League.
