Consistency is the key - and Gallinari can do better.

This season he has been more consistent from game to game - he just had that TERRIBLE start. He had a rough start last season too. For whatever reason, it seem to take him awhile to get into rhythm.

And Gallo's intelligence would be great to have out there as well.

It is clear that we really lack that consistent scoring touch next to Melo. Once we get a CONSISTENT #2, we will be great. Sorry, but right now it isn't JR or Felton and not yet Stat (perhaps our best shot).

Gallo is a good player, but I've never considered him overly intelligent.

I would say he is easily most intelligent player if he were on this team right now (outside of Kidd but his age is catching up with him). But still below Lin, but he is a PG so often that is where you see the more intelligent players. Not as a rule, but quite often.

What do you see in Gallo or Lin's game that makes you think they're more intelligent than the average NBA player? I'm genuinely curious.

I always thought his big fault was complacency. I never really noticed him being that smart of a player either.

Yep. This quote was telling.

“I know you expect a lot from me, and people expect a lot from me,” Gallinari said late Wednesday night, “but I’m not a superstar, I’m not an All-Star, I’m not LeBron, I’m not those great players. I’m an important player of the Knicks. And that’s what I’m trying to do, to help the team every time. Sometimes, can be these type of games, sometimes not. But as long as we win, it’s all good.”

Good player. Humble young man. He knows himself well. I only wish others were as accepting of him as he is.

Dude shut up. I wish haters like you were more accepting of how good Gallo actually is. The kid has allstar potential. I love that we made the trade and would make it 10 out of 10 times. I'm not going to deny that Gallo is a player that has a chance to be great because we traded him like you and some others like to do.

Hater? I'm quoting Gallo himself, so your beef might be with him. Perhaps if you'd like to continue fellating him, you can do so elsewhere.

Watch the lingo, feel free to discuss without the name calling.

Carry on, thanks.

I hope this puts to rest all the silly "Gallo is a role player" arguments.

He can be a role player and still be clutch.

Robert Horry, Derek Fisher and Steve Kerr come to mind

He is never going to be a lead option because he is too inconsistant and he was promoted more of a knock down shooter than he actually is.

But he was undervalued in terms of his ability to get the rim and he has always had the ability to take and make the important shots.

He is a good player. Even when he was on the Knicks he would make the big shot more times than not. I can believe it.

Not someone that can carry a team game in and game out since he does dissappear too much but this stat is a pretty good stat.

He's better than them. More like Toni Kukoc, or Sean Elliott.

Wasn't really comparing the players, just refuting the staement.

I consider someone who is the leading scorer on a playoff team in a stacked Western Conference and the 3rd best clutch player this season as more than just a role player. Guess I just have low standards.

He's better than both of those guys. I wouldn't ask Kukoc or Elliott to be the first options on a team.

I wouldn't ask Gallo either, though.

He's more like option 1A or 1B. On a team with like...I dunno, Terrell Brandon, Dan Majerle, Walt Williams, Dennis Rodman, and Marcus Camby or something, they can be like a similar 1st option.

Small sample size, doesn't really mean anything, though Kyrie is impressive. Gallo is on a hot stretch but he'll come back down to earth and be his usual mediocre self before long.

Well what would you call him?

BTW, there is nothing wrong with being a role player, you have all-stars who were role players.
