Trust him and give him a big role. That means dumping JR. Don't kid yourself.

Get a guy like Jack or Ridnour to help out, but invest in the right person and that person is Shumporific.

This is the big thing right here. I don't know whether or not it means letting JR walk, but Shump needs to be assured 12-15 shots next year. With an off-season of improvement on his offensive game, I think he's ready to shoulder that burden. I expect no less than 15/night from him.

Summer league will be good for Shump he never participated b4 (lock out and injury) I'm sure this is just a small part of his summer.

All talk, no action. If you trust words over action, you'll keep getting lied to and lying to yourself.

He apologized for losing the series before he lost the series. JR was so apologetic that he had his worst game of the series AFTER apologizing, in Game 6, when he sat around doing nothing as an easy board fell into his lap but was stolen, and as he missed a key box-out. We barely lost the game. Had he just hustled in both those plays, maybe we win the game. We were damn close to doing so.

He's all talk and has no motor and no work ethic and is dumb and immature as HELL. But whatever floats your boat I guess. You're guaranteed to see your Knicks suck with JR a major piece. But if you'd rather go down with JR then see a team that actually goes somewhere, that's your choice.

No motor doesn't win you 6MOY. If it was that easy everyone would win it. You're overreacting...again.

Jamal Crawford has a good motor?

This season? Absolutely. That's why he came in 2nd.

Jamal's motor is similar to the one on my son's toy truck.

you're right, it doesn't. but you know what does? being given starter minutes, the second most shot attempts on the team, and the green light to take as many dumb shots as you please knowing you won't be benched.

smith didn't improve nothing this season, he just got starter minutes. he was still the same low iq inefficient chucker who thinks he's kobe with his step back 20 foot BRICKS

That's great and all but homie has to learn how to finish at the rim. He gets that down and the keys are in his hand.

He sucked the worst AFTER apologizing. Why would it change next season AFTER he gets paid? Come on man. You know the truth here. The truth sucks but pretending up is down does nobody any good.

Pretending what up and down? If it was that easy to win 6th man of the year and carry the Knicks through stretches...or did your selective memory forget that...heck don't see how since you were one of the one's cheering him on...was so easy then why doesn't everyone do it?

He played well for a few weeks. Then it came crashing down. As I've said previously, that's actually worse than him just being mediocre. As it turns out, we were pretty convincingly beaten by the Pacers so the extra 5 wins did us no good. And we ended up relying more heavily on him than had we developed sounder ways to win. Like Copeland, who was tried too late.

Anyway, I'm not going after you. You are a reasonable person and in my heart of hearts, I know you know the truth.

JR has no motor, no brain, no work ethic, no maturity and no chance to ever be valuable. I object, he has a motor! ;)

Just don't think summer league will help him that much. It's kind of a zero. He won't gain or lose anything by doing it. If anything you can argue it's a negative because he risks getting hurt. The competition in summer league is not better than informal workouts between players...

Not gonna lie, I was worried JR's habits would rub off on Shump. Glad to see that's not the case.

like i said in my thread saying this kid will be an all-star some day, he has to drive to improve his game and the athleticism to back it up

if he works on finishing around the rim and ball handling sky is the limit

He's gonna be playing basketball regardless and I think it would be good for him to play in a competitive environment, as opposed to just "getting a run in".

His handle could use polishing but it's already good. I'm not worried about finishing.

Those workout games between players can get very competitive. The summer league is a joke.

They changed it around this year so it's like an elimination league hopefully it will make it more competitive and entertaining.

When participating teams take the court in Las Vegas this summer for the 2013 NBA Summer League, a championship will be on the line. For the first time since the league's inception in 2004, NBA Summer League will feature a format that includes preliminary games followed by a single-elimination tournament leading to an eventual champion.

Shumpert also said he plans to play in Vegas Summer League, to work on his game and get more coaching.

next year it better be him getting 33 minutes and smith getting 20 minutes and it better be smith getting the quick hook and not iman.

kid is a winner, doesn't make any excuses, and is a great building block going forward

Without a doubt Blue...This kid is going to reach whatever his potential may be...

I knew that from last year when he went down in game 1. The kid tore up his knee because of that fire he has in his spirit. He was actually attempting to get us out of that deficit in that game... His third quarter in the Ondy game made me so proud.

Not for nothing but JR Smith has already said that it was his fault that the Knicks lost and that he's going to make sure it doesn't happen again (his post game interview after game 6).

Same thing he said after game 4? And what happened after that?

I agree with BNO, give Shump the big role on offense instead of JR. Shump deserves that chance.

As far as Shump goes, he needs to work on his handles and shot off the dribble. Can't spend a while series being guarded well by a pf.
