We will do something this offseason that we haven't done in 30 years.

The last time we drafted back to back bringing us Gallo and Hill isn't stirring up the old optimism for me.

I didn't realize Donnie was coming back to make the pick. Are we making the pick as a favor again or can we actually take the best fit?

While he was only with us for a handful of games, it was the last time this team had two lottery picks on the team that we drafted. Before that you would have to go all the way back until the 86-87 season when we had Patrick Ewing and Kenny Walker. That's only two times in the past thirty years in which we've had two lottery picks together on the same team. Taking a quick look around the current teams in the NBA this year, you can see how continuation is paramount.

In the Eastern Conference:
Boston: Brown, Smart, Olynyk.
Cavs: Thompson, Irving.
Raptors: Valanciunas, DeRozan, Poeltl.
Wizards: Wall, Beal, Porter.
Bucks: Maker, Parker, Henson.
Pistons: Drummond, KCP, Johnson.
Hornets: MKG, Walker, Zeller, Kaminsky.
Magic: Gordon, Payton, Hezonja.
76ers: Okafor, Embiid, Simmons, Saric.
Pacers: George and Turner.

In the Western Conference:
Suns: Chriss, Bender, Booker, Warren, Len.
Warriors: Curry and Klay.
Jazz: Hayward, Lyles, Exum, Burks.
Thunder: Westbrook, Adams, Sabonis, Collins.
Blazers: Lillard and McCollum.
Nuggets: Murray and Mudiay.
Kings: McLemore, WCS, Papagiannis.
Wolves: Towns, Wiggins, Rubio, Lavine, Dunn and Muhammad.
Lakers: Randle, Ingram, Russell.

Teams with less than two:
Hawks, Bulls, Heat, Nets, Spurs, Rockets, Clippers, Grizz, Pelicans, Mavs,

Now this isn't a pro Phil thread by any means, it's just pretty amazing he will actually accomplish something that we haven't been able to do in ages. While we've had multiple drafts in which we had multiple first round picks, maybe just maybe we can have a little foundation forming?

Well it's really gonna suck when we trade down out of the lottery.

I can confidently say that i don't think any tanking will need to take place for us to be drafting in the lottery again next year.

Bottom line, you will NEVER get the same commitment from a hired gun aka Free Agent as you will, a hungry young pup who grew into a man in the city that gave him opportunity.

It's the law of the jungle in sports.

Need to do it for another 2 years at last (two more lottery picks from tanking, late first rounder and 1-2 role players from trading Melo). KP is due for a season long injury this year. After Melo is traded, you are looking at a 15-20 win season with the 8th pick, Kyle, and Lee being the core...

Let's just hope Gaines and Phil don't fck up any picks.

True, but looks like the next draft is going to be top heavy. We cannot make a half-assed effort like we did this year.

I hope Phil learned his lesson. Please the basketball gods my @$$.

Haha . I'm laughing at anybody who thinks we won't be adding a 3rd and 4th to this list. Be it 2 & 3 this year , or 3 & 4 next year, or spread out over 2 more years

He left and came back, but if you want to be technical like that add Evans to the Kings. At least fix it all the way.

Kenny Walker my goodness that dude was one big stiff and a HUGE disappointment. Very good college player with amazing athleticism but really had no position in the NBA.

I'm a 100% in favor of building through the draft, but most importantly we need Phil to find those diamonds in the rough. Just like Golden State did with Draymond Green and Pat Riley did with us when he brought in Mase and Starks. If Phil can do that he can quickly change the direction of the team.
