That said, I am interested in seeing what McBuckets will do here. He's not a good defender by any stretch, but he tries. I think we can see some fun stretches with KP at the 5 and Douggie at the 4. He moves well without the ball and can shoot from well beyond three - he's well more than just a shooter because of his scoring versatility.

Anyways, welcome to NY!

i was hoping for a first rounder instead of mcdermott. but you're right, it's better than anything rockets were going to offer.

i thought the second rounder was their pick; it's chicago, which should be better. 30s versus 50s.

that said, i have no faith in mcdermott. at the best, i see him being like novak. shoot a 3 coming off the bench.

hopefully he and kanter are retraded later in the year

McDermott sucks. Kanter is without question the talent in this trade. The problem is that the talent really doesnt fit. And what makes it work against the Knicks is that if Kanter has a great season he's going to opt out and force the Knicks to decide whether they want to spend huge money to bring back a very talented but hugely flawed player.

Clearly if he opts out of a 17 million dollar contract we are not bringing him back. We can only hope that's what happens

I haven't seen anyone point out the fact that Dougie isn't a 3. OKC tried to play him at three and he was just way too unathletic and slow laterally to guard ANYONE in the perimeter. He had alot more success playing the 4.

This is important sht and should be noted. I'm all fine with having Doug start at sf but with doing that you have to accept that you're shooting straight for a Philly level tank.

You mean just like clearly no one in their right mind would bid against no one but themselves to bring back a very talented but hugely flawed Tim Hardaway Jr.? I know natural instinct is to celebrate Anthony's departure and believing that that everything else will be peachy now, but the reality is that this is the same group that pulled a similar head scratcher and that Steve Mills has been part of the front office for a lot of bad decisions before that.

The "Human Christmas tree".

Probably the worst defender in the entire NBA.

Perhaps the worst defender in all of FIBA.

Great asset if you're tanking for a draft pick though.

Good news is we get a youngish forward for the core, something we didn't have before

Bad news is he kinda sucks, but oh well, could become a decent backup I guess

I wonder how your defense will be affected. Melos complete indifference on most possessions, versus McD's earnest effort and unfortunately terrible results.

He does have a nice looking jumper, and will get MSG hyped a couple times with an unexpected drive and dunk. He could put up some numbers as a tank brigadier marshall.

I said this in the other thread and I'll say it again here: everyone is judging this trade too soon.

The Melo trade was only the first shoe to drop. We have too many guys on the roster, which means SOMETHING else is inevitable ASAP. Perry has likely had a plan in the works for weeks and only needed Melo's OK to implement it. So stay tuned. More is coming!!

kanter does have offensive talent. but with melo gone, now is the time to build a defense-first, team basketball style environment.

i want the knicks to find a way to move him when he becomes eligible again

unfortunately, this.

i have no faith in this organization. they signed amare. traded for melo. and almost every other move has been **** since then.

i'm hoping, with melo gone, the knicks would be able to restart. unfortunately, THjr is signed, which doens't help. but hopefully this is a turn in the right direction

you're not wrong that he is one of the worst defenders in the NBA. but so was melo, so they negate each other.

they key should have been getting young, positive assets.

that said, enjoy howard when he quits one-third of the way through the season because things don't go his way. he and lebron could never handle NY

We can trade him by himself right away, just not with another player for 2 months

One of him and KOQ will be out tomorrow, I suspect, cause we can't trade Noah, and we shouldn't trade Willy
