Its great to hear Frank's ball handling ability seems to have already improved. Seemed really shaky a few times whenever he was pressured on defense. A good step forwards, needs to keep working on that handle and playmaking ability.

I don’t think that’s what he meant. I think it’s more about his ability to finish in the paint like Kyrie is very difficult to stop. His handle can’t be anywhere near Kyrie’s at this point.

I interpret it as meaning that he appears to be very crafty, confident and mature on the court. When Kyrie came in to the league, it was clear to everyone that the kid could play ball. I think he sees that same type of finishing ability and confidence in Frank.

If we were only so lucky. But hey, much like playing lotto...you never know. How he's been able to add muscle to his frame since the draft is pretty darn impressive. So let's hope he's for real.

so far so good, so i'm optimistic.

but hey if he can stop at least some of the guards from slicing us to shreds every night the pick is a home run for me. bad perimeter defense really makes me sick.

Frank really has the tools IMO to be a complete or near complete player (much like Porzingis). :D

Indeed. Just look at how Porzingis AND WillyG have exceeded projected timelines of development.

Giannis himself, was waaaaaaaaaay ahead of schedule for the Bucks.

Part of that, and the same can be said for that mentality with WillyG and Porzingis, can be attributed to their international play and Tournament/Olympic games.

Everyone realizes the comparison he made regarding Frank to Kyrie had to do with Frank "not being athletic" but having some moves, right?

Good news? Frank has some moves
Bad news? Sessions thinks he's not that athletic.

I mean, the glass half empty thought is that a guy who's handle and drive needed some work, along with some here thinking he can't turn the corner on guards, is being identified as "not athletic'

Half full is that a guy who hopefully is athletic enough, plus tall, has more moves than people thought.

From the Frank thread:

"Sessions played with Kyrie Irving during his rookie season with the Cavaliers. He said Ntilkina does some things that remind him of a young Irving.

Ntilikina has impressed the veteran point guards the Knicks brought in to help mentor him. Jarrett Jack pointed to Ntilikina’s length and defensive activity, while Ramon Sessions noticed he had some “tendencies” of an All-Star point guard and NBA champion.

“He’s got a lot of Kyrie tendencies a little bit,” Sessions said after practice Wednesday. “He’s not the most athletic guy but he can handle the ball in tight spots, can finish around the rim. It’s still early on but he definitely gives me that Kyrie feel when Kyrie was a rookie.”

Starting October 3rd and throughout the Knicks preseason, we will be able to better analyze Frank's talent and skills set. I can't judge him until I see him on a NBA court. Even a college court would have been good enough for me. When I see Frank play during the preseason season as well as the start of the new NBA season, I will know if he has star potential. I will know if Frank was the better choice over DSJ. I'm not listening to what any player or scout say. The only things I'm listening to are my eyes. Some of you might say it's too early to tell, but raw talent and potential can't hide for long. I'll know the truth soon. 8-)

Kyrie with defense is a first ballot hall of famer.

He plays nothing like Kyrie. He's just talking about his readiness for the league

Explosive athleticism on your final jump to the rim is overrated. It's actually a few subtle factors like quick step, length, quickness and of course having a good sense of what tool to use when and where is a big factor.

I'm curious to see if he has enough athleticism as a package. You don't need more than enough really.
