I would have felt that way a few years ago but, president notwithstanding, the curtain of untouchability around stars seems to be falling. Donald Sterling's ouster was a real turning point imo. IIRC, both of us had commented before any of that happened that he should have been kicked out of the league long ago for generally being a horrible person. I was stunned when the league finally took action.

Some background on the head of ABC Entertainment...

"Channing Dungey, executive VP of drama at ABC, has been named entertainment president of ABC, replacing Paul Lee, who was ousted in a power struggle with Ben Sherwood, president of Disney/ABC Television. She’s the first African-American to head programming at a major broadcast network. Dungey will now report directly to Sherwood."

I agree that ABC/Disney deserve credit for the swiftness of their action, particularly as Roseanne was the top-rated show on TV this past year and likely quite profitable.

Still, my praise for ABC/Disney is tempered by the fact that they should have known what they were getting. Roseanne said literally the same thing about Susan Rice in 2013, and has made numerous other offensive comments before and since.

Putting the show on the air with that foreknowledge was blatant pandering to the unseemly underbelly of this country, which has put the Orange Menace in the White House.

It will take more collective courage than that to help redress the sad backsliding we are on. Nonetheless, cancelling that cretin's show was an encouraging step.

With the success they've had with Marvel, Disney isn't playing around anymore with ANY of their properties, whether it be ESPN, ABC, or any of their Disney Channel stars.

Disney who owns Marvel Entertainment whose present chairman and former CEO/President Ike Perlmutter contributed something like $30 million to Trump's campaign and a huge supporter.

I work at nights for almost 20 years and let me tell you, if there was an unemployment line for every patient who used the N-word, unemployment in the city would be 30% MINIMUM.
