We need talent. I’m all for stacking up young PGs but when you pick this high, go BPA.

I can't see Ja being there at 5.... just can't. But IF he is... he's your guy. Hell... If we get top 4 - I'd consider that #1 (any other year)

Common team building sense is to go BPA but we dont have a legit pg for the longest time.

I think in the nba it’s almost always BPA since it’s such a shallow draft.
I dunno.

Voted for Bol.

We need a point guard, but long term I think Bol has the ability to have the most impact. You worry about whether he can gain weight like his father, but if he can add a little muscle to his frame while still keeping that shot, he can be a terror next to KP and Mitch.

If he’s not there then one of the Duke players might fall. If it’s Little I think I look elsewhere.

No thanks. Time to start drafting for fit for the team. If it becomes a thing where what we need isn’t where we pick then we need to move down...for a price.

Why #5? Who is the 4th guy after Zion, RJ and Cam?

edit: Sorry misread the OP that he won't include any other player.

I think we need a playmaker rather than a PG. If the playmaker comes in the form of a wing like Zion or Barrett so be it. If it comes in the form of a PG like Morant...so be it....I won't be picky.

Those are the top 3 right now for the knicks imo

I feel you on the PG. I’ve been dying for one my entire 25 years of fandom (excluding the first year or two of Marbury).

We are still very far away IMO so that’s why I’d go BPA. Even if we have a solid prospect at a position, if we can upgrade, do it.

It would help if they’d commit to a PG. They’re going buffet style right now. Pick a meal.

would depend on 3 parameters at least ;

handles
court vision
scoring

I think it really comes down to if said player can break down a defense and create good looks for himself or others.

I voted Ja but I don’t watch college sports, just think we need a PG and his stats look good.

Seems he is moving up draft boards so fast, he was closer to 10 pick before.

I agree we need a PG and I’m fine with drafting for fit, but we probably don’t have time or patience to develop a rookie PG since next year we will be in win now mode again. So I think odds are we will try to sign a PG in FA or trade for a PG as opposed to drafting one

We don’t even know what we have yet outside of KP. The excitement is high for Robinson but we don’t know if he’ll be a starting C. Knox is looking good but we don’t know if he’s a starting F.

I just wouldn’t jump the gun with assuming we know what we have

BPA, whoever that is. Things are gonna change between now and June. If it's a PG, great. We can seemingly draft any position because the guys we do have that matter (KP, Knox, Frank, Robinson, etc.) are versatile and can play multiple positions if need be. Plus, only KP is really entrenched (maybe Knox with how he's playing at 19). You go BPA easily with a team that lacks talent like we do. We seem firmly locked into at least the 5 lotto spot, hopefully we can creep into the top 1-3.

They don’t have the time or patience now either

You’d think a team who’s only championships are directly related to HOF PG play would appreciate the position more. Nope. Bandaids for life.

It's true though. The only reason we're talking about this is because we failed to develop the last PG we drafted, and that was even with 2 tanking seasons to experiment. I sure as hell don't trust them to do it next year when they're chasing the playoffs.
