Flu strains kill more people annually because many more people get them. Those that get this virus are 20-30x more likely to die than from the flu. While it mostly impacts people with already compromised systems some of the cases have been unpredictable in their impacts and there are some indications that the body reacts worse to re-infection i.e. doesn't build up antibodies. This virus is also communicable like the flu so without quarantining efforts it could spread to impact millions globally.

None of this is to say "panic" but it is critical to take this threat seriously. Understanding the risks, current locations of outbreaks, and taking a few precautionary steps (making sure your stocks of anti-cold and anti-inflammatory medications are current, knowing procedures for if you think you've contracted the virus) could save many lives.

If the Knicks were in game 7 of the Finals against the Seattle Supersonics and you had a ticket, would you go? :D (Understand what's on the line here  )

Of course.

At the same time, the virus obviously adapts to it's human host's immunological environment. More than worry outside, consciously take care of your body inside.
Eat better, I would go so far as to say lay off of eating meat as much as possible. While animal borne is not a thing, why wait till it is. Get your rest, exercise often and get that body's immune system activated.

There's a lot that one can do to strengthen oneself, one can't guarantee the rest.

Prep now so if you have to lock down you can.

I've got enough food and water now that if I had to stay inside for two months I'd be fine. A little bored with pasta and beans, but I'd manage.

This will surely affect the vulnerable elderly and sick the most so I do fear for health workers and the people they care for. There are going to be serious issues in some nursing homes if they don't contain their buildings. We're going to lose some of the older moms and dads before this is over.

This is going to change our lives, economies and political fortunes around the world for an unknown period of time. Some preparation is definitely advisable. The stores are stocked now, but that could change at any time so go shopping before people lose their composure.

We’ve been living with the virus for a few months now. In this part of the world, it certainly seems to have peaked and we’re just in a precautionary period to prevent recurrence. Companies have moved to a two team split where one team works from home on alternating weeks. Schools have remain open although daily temperature checks are required and all inter school competitions and events have been suspended. Kids are going to miss graduation trips which is a bit sad. All in all, it’s not as bad as the media or the public reaction has made it seem, but precaution is definitely necessary to prevent transmission.

Get some balsamic vinegar. It goes great with rice and beans.

First case has hit Manhattan. Woman caught it in Iran before flying home. Got to wonder about the other folks on the plane. I hope they get tested quickly.

How are we defining “old”? Like are we talking shammgod old???

Speaking of which, shammgod has graciously opened his domicile to anyone who feels like they might be coming down with flu symptoms.

I’m good. It’s shammgod we have to be concerned about. Who will I make fun of if he’s not around?

Cuomo and DiBlasio were just on tv downplaying this. Comparing it to the flu but about 3 times as deadly. Older people and people with compronised immune systems are the ones at a high risk. Didn't hear if they said kids were vulnerable. Washing hands frequently. Don't touch eyes nose mouth.

They made it seem like it was no big deal. Majority of people will just ride it out but...20% is pretty high for serious risk.

The sky is falling!
