A lot of the same people who don't want to sign FVV want Cole Anthony to be our PG next year, make that make sense.

I like FVV and wouldn't mind Cole Anthony later in the draft. The caveat is you don't want to pay these players like franchise cornerstones. FVV definitely isn't. I don't want to assume Anthony won't be but in all likelihood he won't be either.

I think the idea of signing FVV is, we want to make the team kinda decent next year, get to .500, and look respectable, maybe get swept in the first round, then sign a max FA because we're no longer a complete clown show

Maybe two, depending on how the cap reacts to the Covid thing. If it goes down, we'd have enough for a max plus at least a solid role player, if it doesn't drop too much, we might have enough for two maxes (definitely if we're able to dump Randle, as he has 4 mil guaranteed in 22).

It wouldn't be the worst plan I've ever heard. Because at that point, FVV is the 3rd or 4th option on offense (up to 2 max FAs and if RJ pans out, drops him to 4), and that's a good role for him. Technically he would be overpaid, but he'd be going into the last years of his deal, so you could trade him if you really needed to.
BaF Lakers:

Kasparas Jakucionis/Daniss Jenkins
VJ Edgecombe/Cam Spencer
AJ Dybantsa/Cedric Coward
Collin Murray-Boyles/Jordan Walsh
Alex Sarr/Kyle Filipowski

Yup. This year, again, New York won't get their guy. Those are likely still okay guards though.

And he'll be very good in that role. Still, you don't want to pay too much, because he clearly has limitations. This is not a player who can get any shot he wants. He is a winning player though, no doubt.

He's going to want 4 years. That's too long for a player like FVV at the money he'll be asking for.

If you believe this new FO is going to deliver then they'll come with up as good or better players during that time without locking up 20-25% of the cap on a role player.

And if you don't believe in this FO, then it won't matter whom you sign this off-season anyway

He's good, but this FA class is terrible which is causing people to act like he is a bigger deal than he actually is.

Thibs is a good coach, but FVV built his reputation playing next to Lowry in TO's system. Playing next to our players may not show off FVV in the same light.

IOW, if a player's already likely found their complete upside you don't pay for future potential. FVV is not going to get much better, but if he gets any worse his deal will be another overpay albatross contract you can't get rid of. He is just not good enough to pay $20M a year.

To me the whole point of having a healthy organization for the first time in two decades is you will find talent cheap and produce your own FVV's, but you don't overpay for those guys in the FA market which is typical Knicks logic.

Bucks can take whoever they want.... I'd give Giannis' family a 10% stake in MSG Entertainment.

he is, which makes this interesting (not specifically for the knicks). But the bucks if he doesn't want to resign probably have to look to deal him because if he leaves with no return assets that franchise is f*cked for the next 10 years.
