Music detour:
Nujabes played a role in my favorite anime soundtrack all time...Samurai Champloo

The Director was BIG on musical scores reflecting his anime. Champloo went hip-hop, but he's more known for Cowboy Bebop which was jazz themed and also had a banging soundtrack. For Jazz heads, peep this fire right here...

And this is all in my head space recently because Cowboy Bebop is getting a live-action remake on Netflix that drops Friday. So I've been running that soundtrack like crazy recently and it usually leads me to the Champloo soundtrack which means lots of Nujabes.

And back to Nujabes, Modal Soul captures so much of the vibes I love in hip-hop...felt boom-bap inspired which is what I grew up on.

Would be nice to have a “let’s not **** around game” like we did when we beat them in the first meeting. Can’t let a lottery team come here and get us for a 2nd time.

And don't leave Ross aka 'Reggie Miller when he plays the Knicks' wide open.

The Native Tongues collective were basically my introduction to hip hop. I was bigger on Tribe growing up and I still stan Q-tip; but De La Soul is another big influence for me. But yeah, it was De La Soul, Tribe, Black Sheep...all that ish. Then shortly after, my brother and his producer put me on to Wu, Nas, and a few others like Jeru da Damaja.

Should be a win. Emphasis on SHOULD. Also a must win. Can't afford losing to garbage teams like this.

Also who the F is nujabes? And weird stuff? haha

Surprisingly positive response to Nujabes, hmm. It would appear I miscalculated the amount of cultured men amongst this rabble of heathens.

 Nujabes is a throwback at this point.

Anyway, yeah, it feels like winning tonight and vs Houston is important since there's like a 5 or 6 tough opponents in a row after.

Cole has been their offense. Shut him down, who's gonna score on that garbage team? Expect RJ to get out of his funk big time. Rose+IQ dominate the 2nd quarter, cruise to an easy W.

I sadly swore off hip-hop for much of my youth. A black eye on my musical odyssey. De La was part of my repentance but time has washed away the specifics of my come-to moments.

That was my hunch that you and Cap would have been into them. The first record they dropped was terrific. I never went very far into hip hop, but I played Three Feet a whole lot when I bought that CD. Time flies. That was a while ago

DLS was a natural fit. They were very genre fluid

I don't consider it a black eye. It's not everybody's path

Talkin all that jazz by Stetsasonic was the game changer for me. still one of my favorite all time tunes. Came out about a year before 3 feet. The same year I was graduating HS and was considering going to 5 towns college in LI to follow in the footsteps of Prince Paul. Loved de la back then.

I do because in retrospect it was fueled by personal biases that I needed to work through and remove for a fuller listening experience.

Which Magic starter has a career night courtesy of the sh*tty defense played by the Knicks starting 5?
