I lol'ed. The physics is pretty obvious. And even if it wasn't the video actually shows you the trajectories of the two different kinds of shot performed by the same player for, iirc, 3 players. Each time the trajectory from off the backboard is flatter. Less arc. What did you not understand about that? Should I post paint-art itt? Maybe we need to summon Evie?

You’re joking but there’s some truth to it. You decided Brunson and RJ are mid so despite their growth, you rather see Mitch make no shots and IQ go up and down game to game. Not to be harsh of course.

He hates to see people try to enjoy watching players grow. He has stats to prove it. empirical data!

I enjoy watching all players grow. It's still too early in the season to make any proclamation, but we may be seeing significant growth from two players this season.

We just disagree on what growth means. What you may have seen as growth from one player, I may have seen as regression.

Not really. We disagree what stats mean. You think they predict the future. I know they only represent the past.

I don't think they necessarily predict the future, but they provide you with valuable information to project into the future.

Obviously players are on a developmental path, which can go in a multitude of directions, so stats are not stable through time, but can be subject to variation.

I believe RJ's 3rd and 4th years were a regression from his 2nd season, during which he had shown significant improvement from his rookie year on defense and in scoring efficiency. And I think the statistics back my stance. But these statistics never said that he couldn't improve. In some sense, it's because he had the ability to improve that I was critical of his game (or rather the way he was used). He's not a lost cause like Frank or Knox.

Problem with this is... Mitch will get laughed at and that's why he would say no to it.

im all for this! i hate the idea of bad free throw shooters not trying just about anything to get better. We already know Mitch is bad at free throw shooting so why keep on trying to do it the same way.

I always want him to either take a step back so that he doesnt have to mess with his default power in shooting or just try to shoot it under hand.

But seeing this style of throwing it off the backboard would definitely be good for him. Hopefully someone shows him this lol
