NGL I'm actually very impressed with the FO here. They had a clear vision and executed it. They traded down to grab a serviceable role player, but then they managed to hype and develop him just enough to garner enough cache to acquire the win-now vets they covet. How refreshing is it to have Bogey & Burks introduced as trade-deadline bench depth instead of off-season fugaze headliners?

Bravo to Leon for leveraging the draft in an intelligent way even if it's not the normal way we see in every other Playoff contender who tries to find cornerstone talent at the top of the draft. Grimes was always a shill, and I wish him well elsewhere (the only place he was ever going to have a chance anyway).

Wishing him nothing but the best. The defense is absolutely legit, maybe the offense can follow!

Will miss Grimes, but he was not able to take the next step and WAS given the opportunity.

Much like RJ, he was quite frustrating to root for.

Very good defense, but his shot was too inconsistent for him to be a contributor now.

And I never got why he didn't attack the rim more. His dribble and passing are good. But he always seemed to lack confidence.

He could have been the secondary ball handler we needed, but oh well...

Sleeper agent. Grimes will have Detroit in the playoff picture next year to get us that 2025 pick!

Grimes could turn into a solid D/3 guy, but nothing about him was all that special. Average size and athleticism while being a below average rebounder, ball handler, and passer. Deuce was picked a few spots later and has been better overall for example.

He had a chance after the OG trade to finally breakout with more touches and shots, which he complained about not getting earlier, but couldn’t do it outside of garbage time a few games. Had no offensive bag outside of mediocre threes on low volume, and his D couldn’t make up for it.

Donte and Quickley had no problem putting up stats when they started alongside Brunson and Randle, but everyone wants to make excuses for Grimes.

If we actually use our picks again sometime, as we have 2 this year, Grimes can be replaced by a younger more cost controlled player easily.

We’ve been pretty good with grabbing decent guards/wings later in the draft/undrafted the last 20 years when we dont trade out:

Ariza, Nate, WChandler, TDouglas, Shump, Lin, THJ, LGalloway, IQ, Grimes, Deuce, etc. Is Grimes any better than these guys? The jury is still out but again, so far he’s nothing to write home about.

He gave us a promising season last year, and no doubt he can defend which we may miss at times the rest of this season until he’s replaced, but he took a step back, got outplayed by Donte, and it’s grown up time now.

Wish him well, but it’s too bad his game didnt match his last name more.

Best of luck to garbage time Grimes. I think he’ll do better in relative obscurity without pressure or lofty expectations.

Good luck and Godspeed to you, QG. In the end, this is a business -- and the KNICKS made a "business" decision.

Nothing personal. Only love. Wishing you nothing but the best... until you have to play against us!

I was really hoping Grimes to become permanent back court mate to Brunson.. H2O with defense.
Knicks gave him a chance and lost it.
We just couldn't wait for him to develop.

Solid 3/D guy already-- especially for a 3rd year player and cost controlled. If all he did was become more consistent, that would be enough. How many of you would of been satisfied with Divo in his 3rd year?
We can't pay everybody 40mil. How many of you think we're winning a chip this year? Perfect guy in the starting lineup or off the bench next to Brunson and can play for Thibs and most importantly the next coach.
Switching a guy out for guys that won't be here 2 years from now, especially when we're not in our championship window is terrible.
for those who think we're making some kind of championship run with Burks and Bogi(both of whom I like as players)- God bless and I hope you're right.

Sad to trade my Grimes-cap in, but unfortunately the writing was on the wall for a couple of weeks now. The starting position was his to lose and unfortunately he never recovered from looking over his shoulder. I did have the dream of seeing him, OG, Mitch, and Josh coming in as the hard nose defenders. I think if Randle didn't go down, Grimes might still be here so he can flourish with the bench team.

I feel bad for QG, but hopefully he can grow as a player now with the expectations lessened. Detroit is just a rough landing spot for anyone. Maybe he can become Cade's backcourt partner
