Can anyone explain how we didn’t clinch the 3 seed tonight if we own the tiebreaker against the Cavs?

yeah CHI is locked into 9 and can't move. They also have a play-in game to prepare for so don't think they will play there guys.

I think we are going to play philly assuming we win vs CHI (assuming Indy wins vs ATL who has nothing to play for)

if we win and MIL losses that means ORL wins also so that would put us at 2 and we play the Philly Miami winner.

if we win and MIL wins that means ORL losses that would mean we would stay at 3 and Philly would jump ORL and be the #6 seed.

Start prepping for Embiid. Thats the likely matchup...unless we throw the game vs CHI.

Ok I admit, those crying about the in season tournament and how it screwed us over a little having to play the better teams more times than normal and it coming back to bite us..

You were right, it shouldn't be as tight as it is, and we likely have 50 wins or more right now and easily in 2nd if we didn't have to play Boston so many times.

doing the math and the games that are likely to be wins

Indy over ATL (ATL with nothing to play for)
CLE over CHA (CHA with nothing to play for)
Philly over BRK (BRK with nothing to play for)

so that leaves us vs CHI (we likely win with CHI with nothing to play for they are locked into 9)

so that leaves the MIL/ORL game. If we win...regardless of that result we probably face philly and not ORL

MIL wins (which means ORL losses) Philly goes to the #6 seed and jumps ORL
ORL wins (which means MIL losses) we go to the #2 seed but Philly stays at #7 because of tiebreakers.

are we still in play for the 4th seed?
