I'm about to say something that people I usually disagree with also say, but for a different reason.
The reason they say it is because they don't like to see facts reported.
The reason I'm saying is I like to see facts reported.
But it is true how much the mainstream media has degenerated, especially the past 2-3 years since the last general election.
Almost every outlet now engages in both sides coverage even when they know the opposing viewpoint is making bold lies and unsubstantiated claims. This is done to ratchet up tensions and keep viewers engaged via conflict, but it is rarely journalism any longer.
The biggest fall from grace has been the NY Times which now has some of the worst political coverage in the country after a pretty strong history of being a fairly reliable paper of record. Their polling methodologies are laughable and are calibrated to produce controversy. The NY Times is still a great source of OTHER information, but rarely is any good any longer on the political coverage.
CNN took a hard turn towards courting right of center voters and got their lunch served to them by enough of an alert public audience that was shocked at how brazen the Foxification of that network was.
Even MSNBC now suffers from this both sides nonsense in ways unimaginable 5 years ago.
