The Magic have Suggs and Wagner upcoming extensions next year. Suggs has taken a big step and Wagner is close all-star level. They will get good contracts. Banchero is also due for an extension in 2 years---rookie max for sure. Again you probably have the Magic commit around 100mill. on these 3 cornerstones. Committing 20+mill. on Hartenstein is going to make their cap situation difficult.

Of course there is always the possibility of overpaying a guy like Hartenstein and then trading him in 2 years when you need cap space.

Dude has a CHRONIC Achilles issue. How much do people think teams will pay for that? The list of teams that can offer him big money is not very big at all. Unless someone offers him a HUGE markup over what we can, he will stay. I think we may have to move Mitch to afford to fill out the roster beyond OG/iHart. Oh well. That seems to make the most sense why rumors say they are shopping him.

Let’s see. Begley has sources and is the most plugged in reporter, but there are times even he doesn’t know what the FO has cooking. He literally scoffed a few times at the idea the Knicks could get Mikal and said it wasn’t going to happen because of the teams rivalry. The Knicks and Ihart might be in a good position regarding the next contract being signed.

The biggest guy pushing the narrative other teams need to pay IHart is a mouthpiece for Morey in Philly. I just don’t see a market where a team says let’s give him 100 mil.

I think the Knicks salary dump Mitch (if this is possible new CBA) re-sign OG and iShart and attempt to get Goga with the taxpayer MLE. Or they draft a big.

We’re going into the third apron. Dolan is all in.

An INCREDIBLE babyface turn that will be completed by making right with the Oak Man this year. Dolan close to being GOATED.

Feeling Tyson Chandler trade vibes here...but with more future ramifications.

Robbing peter to pay Paul. Marginally better short term roster. Much more limited long term future.

Not a championship team.

If it is true we only have 33.5 million to spend after this trade, it would be quite difficult to keep Hartenstein. I hope Robinson can stay healthy. Otherwise, we stand no chance without a real center

this is only true if nothing about the trade changes and knicks make no other moves, which is extremely unlikely to happen.

the bridges trade won't be finalized for awhile and a 3rd team could even be brought in if needed so the knicks could avoid becoming hard capped at the 1st apron.

essentially the knicks not retaining Ihart remains unrelated to the knicks being willing/able to pay him the max the can. it's still only about other teams outbidding us and ihart not being willing to take a paycut (how much is to be seen) to stay.

100%.

Randle, Brunson, Hart, etc. all need to be on iHart's case until he re-signs with us. We have to see this thing through to the end...

This might also be a way for the Knicks management saying we couldn’t keep OG because of hard cap and not because we were being cheap. In that case, iHart gets the max we can offer with a player option of his choice to give him bigger contract in the future

Big loss. We saw what Boston was able to do with their stretch 5s.

It will be a loss IF iShart leaves, but he's not a stretch 5.

I think he comes back though.

Yeah, I know that. But I was concerned about who is going to guard the Stretch 5s. I thought iHart could. I'm not sure about Mitch.

And of course, we know the foul trouble our 5s always get in. We need iHart + Mitch + Precious lol
