You can wish everyone a Happy 4th of July without the political 'sky is falling' BS.

Because that's all that is...BS. This 'good vs. evil' bull reality some people try to paint with this election is laughable and pathetic.

We used to be a country up until 20-30 years ago. Politics were rarely discussed like this. Now we've devolved into some Marvel **** about 'dis guy bad!' and 'dis guy good!'.

Enjoy the 4th of July. I'd love if more people stopped giving their unsolicited political opinions. That would be truly American! God bless!

Bit dramatic, innit?

It realistically could be. Last presidential election the safeguards protected democracy. Most of those have been lifted. If Georgia is say 11k votes off favoring Biden, I think we could wind up with an election with no resolution.

Obviously you are ignoring the supreme court ruling that gave sweeping power to the president to break the law. Whoever gets elected in the future. Rubicon got crossed. This country only vaguely a democracy now.

Funny how none of this excites people who normally hate "big government" or "the deep state"

And yet somehow this Supreme Court ruling won’t be a problem if a Democrat wins office, right? Just a Republican.

This is why I don’t get involved in politics. People are so caught up in their team and have this narrow ass minded point of view that’s outside of reality.

Yeah, President Alzheimer’s is going to save democracy from big bad orange guy! There is absolutely no chance we’ll see corruption again after November if Biden wins. No politician has been corrupt and abused power before or after this ruling!

Don’t need to respond back because I don’t care to argue about this my team is better yours political crap and I won’t. I have nothing else to add to this.

Agree 100%. Moreover, where is the concern for our veterans who returned from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars with PTSD? It’s nonstop fireworks from Memorial Day through September every summer.

Apparently some communities are starting to use "laser" shows.

Have you been living under a rock? Democrats are livid over this decision as well as the decision overturning 50 years of precedent when it overturned the Chevron doctrine. Do you know what the Chevron is, or was?

The decision on immunity in Trump’s case is exactly what I’m so upset about. Biden immediately came out with a statement saying that he would hold himself to a higher standard. Your statement about how Democrats like this is just plain ignorant.

This is why I don’t get involved in politics. People are so caught up in their team and have this narrow ass minded point of view that’s outside of reality.

I happen to agree with the following:

However, as former president Barack Obama once reminded us: “Loving your country shouldn't just mean watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. Loving your country must mean accepting your responsibility to do your part to change it. If you do, your life will be richer, our country will be stronger.”

The supreme court ruling is a problem if a crook gets into office, because it gives the crook too big an invitation to break the law.

I don't care what side of the political fence you're on, Trump is a crook. This is well established. If a Democrat crook (and they do exist) - Menendez in NJ, Rod Blagojevich, an evil clone of Bill Clinton. How would you feel then?

Biden, dislike him as much as you want, but there's no evidence that he's a crook, but this supreme court ruling will go on past Biden. Imagine if a black lives matter president gets in office - and they had cart blanch to do all kinds of questionable things, and prosecuting them for abuse of power would be nearly impossible. How would you feel then? That's the door the supreme court opened.

- - - - -

Now, I've not read up on this a whole lot. I've read up on it a little bit, and listened to some people who are smarter than me, and this isn't full blown dictatorship, but it is half way there.

Take what happened with the voting machine claims. Trump (or any president) can claim it's their presidential duty to ensure safe and fair elections, but what does that mean? Does it give the president the power to delay the results of an election until their satisfied? Where does presidential duty end? This is a scary ruling, and not just Trump. ANY ELECTED PRESIDENT can do this.

Now, if they have an attorney - lets call this attorney Rudy, and lets say that Rudy makes some accusations that put people's lives in danger. Attorney Rudy doesn't have presidential immunity. This person could face civil and criminal prosecution. They could still lose their license to practice law, and a pardon will only cover some of that.

Presumably, no president ever will be stupid enough to call a state attorney general and ask them to "find 11,000 votes", but presidents can call state attorney generals, ask for illegal ****, say it's "I just want to ensure free and fair elections" and say it's covered by presidential immunity. Imagine if the state attorney general is corrupt.

With this ruling, a president could literally send out a flyer to every millionaire in the country that says "Pardons for sale - bidding starts at 2 million", and Pardons, a presidential power, would be protected from any kind of prosecution. Rod Blagojevich would LOVE that.

- - - -

Now, lets look at why the 6 conservative justices made this ruling? One reason that's been floated out there, is that they wanted to protect Trump from prosecution prior to the election, so if he wins in 2024, he's safe. They love Trump that much.

Now, any charge against Trump can be challenged on the basis of "Presidential duties, so he's immune" - I don't know how that would apply to Hush money payments before he was elected. Or his crooked real estate finances, which were done before he was president. I suspect it shouldn't, but Trump's going to try to challenge those rulings. The supreme court gave Trump a get out of jail free pass, at least, for a while, until this can be sorted out.

To me, that's even scarier. That this might not have been a rule of law, but a rule based entirely on favoritism. Two of the supreme court justices have direct family ties to January 6th. One has taken a HUGE amount of bribes and payments. Their ruling on abortion was based on an arcane, 300 year old law, and very strange, and this one shows blatant favoritism. The fact that they waited until the last possible minute to reach this ruling is evidence of that.

- -

There are valid reasons to be concerned. These are scary times. And if you don't think that's the case, just remember, this immunity will exist long after Trump is gone. This could be a real problem. American politics is built on checks and balances, and we can see now, the supreme court has no checks and balances, outside of impeachment, which only happened once. It's very rare, and is impossible to succeed in our current 2 party system and now the president has increased power to commit crimes. This isn't good.
God invented war so Americans would learn geography.

Wait until you see the Court’s decision this last week in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo in action.it overturns the Chevron doctrine that gives deference to the administrative agency’s regulations. This means that people’s or corporations individual complaints will be litigated on a case by case basis without any uniformity and mechanisms for streamlining their complaints. It’s going to wreak havoc on at least our health and environmental systems. I assume it’ll do the same for Wall Street.

Honestly a certain president should run on packing the courts or judge term limits because clearly the Supreme Court has been radicalized or compromised…. Or maybe both.

On the surface it’s litigated chaos but I personally think it’s an attempt at a power grab by the SC. Everything being litigated means they can decided on everything.

Sorry, you’re too wrapped up in your blue cocoon to ever see reality. The idea that you think you’re rooting for the “good guys” and the other people are “bad guys” is just so ridiculous and laughable to me. It’s cultist behavior from people who like to talk about Trump cults.

Both Dems and Republicans are cult like followings with weirdos who idolize politicians like they care for them.

If all was fair RFK would’ve been on that debate stage last week but both parties don’t want him taking the shine away from their candidates.
