I'm calling Minny at the deadline in February and asking what they want for DVo.

I don't think the Knicks have any real assets left to trade for role players. If they want role players (bench depth) they'd be looking at the free agent market. To which here's a list of free agents that are still available (hasn't retired or locked into an overseas contracta and has said they are still looking for an NBA team):

Markelle Fultz
David Bertans - signed with the new Dubai league but apparently he has NBA opt outs built into his contract
Doug McDermott
Robert Covington
Wes Matthews
Reggie Bullock
Javale McGee
Justin Holiday
Jae Crowder
Dennis Smith Jr
Bismack Biyombo
Thaddeus Young
Harry Giles III
Marcus Morris
Dwight Howard - hard to pin down, he's deep in building his own team overseas but he hinted recently that he's a free agent looking for a team so...

TBH some of these guys would actually make some sense. Nothing to get blown away by but some decent role playing vets that may be able to provide some handful of minutes off the bench and add some vet presence in the locker room.

Most of these guys are in their mid-30s which by basketball standards is retirement age.
The ones under 30 largely have significant injury concerns which with our roster doesn't bode well.

Biggest need for the bench is a wing with decent size that can put the ball in the basket. Gary Trent would have been an ideal fit.
Maybe Cedi Osman can come back from Europe

For sure. But they may still be better options than whatever they can find on the no name market.

Beasley with the flagrant 3.
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

Not diamonds, but:
Larry Nance or Deandre Hunter from ATL?

Bagley or Richaun Holmes from Was?

Grant Williams from Cha?

Avdija or Thybulle from Por?

John Collins fro Utah for cheap?

Who can we trade for any of these guys? You better not mean Mitch...

deni interesting...

Would've preferred us signing him rather than Payne

Fultz needs a place where he will have a role. He is good enough to be a rotation player right now. Fit is an issue and he is too good to be an end of bench guy.

What are we sending out? We need a healthy Mitch more than anything. That changes our bench considerably.

Deuce/Shamet/Hart/Precious would be the bench if Mitch were healthy. KAT would still see minutes at the 5 so, what would we really need?

Our only need right now is Mitch or his replacement.

That is crazy, I didn’t see him play often but I thought he had found a niche with Orlando?

Some trade that sends us Sexton and Kessler for Mitch and McBride …

… or in a three-way with DiVincenzo heading back to us and Sexton to Minnesota

Other favorites have been Atlanta’s Bogdanovic, Murphy, Poeltl, Nurkic, Moody, Lonnie Walker but none of them make much, if an any sense at all.

Terry Johnson is a dead-eye shooter though.

Let Washington have their pick back and cap fillers for Kispert, that man can shoot.

because we have to fill 14 roster spots, there isn't anything we can do right now outside of guaranteeing Shamet's contract and converting Hukporti's contract to a minimum rookie scale contract.
