The Obi pick was a mess but getting guys like Deuce/Grimes/IQ fairly late in the draft is excellent. I think at least one of the guys we took this year will be useful. Even Jokubaitus was a good scouting exercise despite the fact that he's a joke and he baited us.
They've done a good job.
Meh, I’m still salty about passing on Bane for IQ and giving away the pick that could’ve been JDub. Getting rid of picks, punting, and trading down… don’t like their style of approach at draft time at all.
The draft has been a mixed bag for me. The approach has bothered me but, the picks have been solid for the most part.
I like the fact that they pick their guy and trade down to get him. Everyone knows they messed up Obi, but Bane was drafted 30th. That means basically every team missed on him. Quick is comfortably a top 10 player from the 2020 draft and lading him with the 25th pick and doing a swap for extra capital on top of that should be praised.
I like how active they are on draft night. Obviously they've had some big misses, but they usually add draft capital by targeting their guy and they draft well in the later first and 2nd round and they get their guys. Kolek was their guy who they considered taking in the first round, but went with the Euro-stash instead (though he didn't stash), they sold their other first round pick for a bunch of 2nds then traded up for Kolek and got him in the 2nd round. When they have late picks, they've done good stuff with them.
I'm a bit puzzled by that article. It basically gives them praise for Josh Hart & OG, which is valid, but some questioned them for adding Bridges & Kat. That's bizar to me. Bridges was an overpay but a good addition. Kat was a great addition. Why would those 2 moves push them down from top 3 by some executives?
