Just as filler. We used guys like that this past offseason.

TJ Warren can't be filler? Moses Brown? Any healthy player with longer than 6 months left in their career? It makes zero sense. Dude should be sitting on his couch eating Hagen Daas and Fritos! Not on the Knicks bench.

Because you can't trade coaches. PJT is a trade chip this off-season.

PJT is trash, almost tripped during the garbage time he played.

That's not the point. He's a tradable salary. It's not player value, it's making the salaries add up that NY cares about.

Like Mamadi Diakite, Shake Milton, Charlie Brown Jr., DaQuan Jeffries, & Duane Washington Jr. PJT is a guy they can use for salary in trade.

I don't know why they didn't feel that way about TJW, but I think it's a numbers thing more than a "he can still play" thing.

i think both TJW and Moses would have taken that same deal. So why does Tuck get it and guys that actually would be useful in a pinch not. Makes no sense.

Moses started for the MAvs for multiple games and played well.

I have no idea. PJ's deal is non guaranteed for next year. Moses might want a guaranteed deal next year, not sure about TJ, but . . . I don't know anything. I'm just guessing. PJ might have been more amenable to being used, or maybe Thibs wanted him. Not sure.

I can think of 10 players on the used vets lot who would love the contract.
Dwight Howard (Ewing Protegee)
Nerlens Noel
JaVale McGee

I doubt Moses Brown is turning down a raise. It's not really a big deal but, it is a weak move. The rotations are about to her even shorter anyway.

A team option means we could either dump him after the season or use it in a trade so nbd. Not sure what he does but if he’s a good locker room personality I’m for it

We need more details on the contract.

This!! I bet the 2nd year isn't guaranteed and can be used in offseason to match salaries and there is a loophole we all don't know about yet

Begley’s full message is cut off above so here’s the whole thing if you don’t want to click it and give elongated muskrat more ad revenue

PJ Tucker’s rest-of-season deal with the Knicks will leave them with enough room under the second apron to add another vet free agent at the end of the regular season. Knicks people have appreciated Tucker’s off-court impact, vocal approach during his two-week stint with the club. The player and team have agreement, plan to finalize deal shortly. In scenario described above, NYK would need to waive a player in order to create room on roster to sign another free agent. They could fit a veteran minimum salary in under the second apron if they wait until the last day or two of the regular season to make the transaction. The team option on Tucker’s deal - first reported by ESPN - also gives New York additional salary to include in an offseason trade, if club chooses to go that route.

Yes of course, it gives them salary flexibility if they need to make a trade in the offseason

Yep Yep, they can add his contract to someone else, and unlike the rest of the minimum guys on the roster, PJ isn't going to feel away to go anywhere since this is the end of his career and a guarantee contract anywhere would be a blessing.

Really we have 0 Mitch insurance. Huk and Sims were something, but now we have no center, no paint protection for the non-Mitch minutes.
Thibs whole defense is based on having rim protection.

You really thought he was brought here to actually play, he is an extension of the coaching staff.

From everything i heard and read, the players and coaching staff love his leadership in the locker room

thibs does not take adv of roster depth; the front office seems to think the old man needs more of a coaching/motivational help
