But even if the Knicks go down in the 1st round to the Pistons as they say, I'd rather go out in a hard fought 7 game series against that young, hungry team than get swept by the Celtics in 2nd round, losing by an average of 30 points.
Let the Pacers wear the Celts down chasing around that fast paced team ....maybe the Pacers even upset them.
Then....with a fully healthy team, we beat the fraud Cavs can see the winner in the ECF.
If we could avoid the Pistons, that would be ideal since they are likely to start a fight and/or hurt someone with their physicality. We should win, but it will be a tiring ordeal. It would be better for us if another top team had to go through them to wear them down a bit.
Actual contenders beat whomever they face. If we have to wish for easier paths to the Finals then we're not contenders.
Not really true. I mean for the 1a teams like the Celtics, it probably shouldn't matter as much, but there are certainly easier and harder paths. If I were the Celtics (the team I feel is the best in the East), I would not want the Heat in round 1, not want the Pistons in round 2.
Those two teams are going to get their pound of flesh win or lose. Also, Pistons have proven they can make Tatum struggle on offense and thus break down whole teams offensive game plan.
Knicks are in the contener bubble, but likely 1a are Celtics, thunder, 1b Cavs, tier 2 would be Nuggets, Knicks, I would have the Wolves there. Tier 3 would be the teams that I feel have equal odds to be bounced round 1 as make the NBA finals.
