Yeah Coogler said X Files is next. I was a huge fan of the show so I'm excited to see what his vision is for it.

I'm wondering if it's an all new reboot or if it will connect to the OG series.

Gillian Anderson had me in a choke hold back in those days.

Reminds me of the Biblical story of Genun leading the Sons of Jared astray with music. Iykyk

I like they way they subtlety shows the origins of music through hoodoo/voodoo/vodun

Disagree. This is absolutely worth seeing in theaters.

Was just a bit slow, wish the Accountant 2 or Until Dawn was already playing and would have picked one of those.

Maybe if they removed the homages to music and added more killing. Or made it shorter by 30 minutes.

Because what the board really needs is 2 or 3 separate threads about different movies.

They gave me a hard time when I insisted we have a distinct jets thread, so, yeah. I'm going to throw other movies in here, even if it's most about Sinners (which I haven't seen, but I plan to).
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

I liked the slow build up and the music, but its all subjective.

Smoke's Tommy Gun scene satiated my bloodlust

I'm definitely gonna check out Accountant 2 on Saturday. I just hope it's as fun as the original.

The writing, acting and music were all phenomenal. My only real gripe with the movie is that it doesn't really bring anything fresh to the vampires genre, but obviously the movie wasn't billing itself like that. Coogler directing is brilliant, his negotiation of the deal was superb and they nailed all the supporting actors. With all the hype and love the movie is getting, it definitely doesn't fall flat.

I would love to see them bring some Louisiana/down south myths and legends to the big screen.

The best way to look at sinners, is that it’s not a vampire movie. It’s a movie about the Blues being the Devils music, that also has vampires in it.

I never knew untill Sinners came out that Blues was considered the Devils music by religious black people back then.

Everyone that partied that night was a “sinner”

This is a history lesson of black music and history, that includes Vampires.

Genius Concept.

I think that's fair after seeing the movie, however if you go into the movie just seeing the trailer you would've expected more of a vampire angle. The Steinfeld line in the trailer we're gonna kill you all, the way they portrayed Remmick as the main villain. Granted you always gotta take trailers with a grain of salt since they cut it up so much, I was just expecting more of it. Judging by the trailers I think that's a fair expectation of the movie, but you're correct in that's how you got to view it after seeing it.

For me as a horror fan, that's what intrigued me first. To see if Coogler/Jordan can create magic that I've never seen before in that aspect. You already know that their movies are going to be beloved, for good reason. The hype on this movie definitely delivered a lot better than lets say Long legs, but that's delving into a completely different discussion.

Trust Bro I was not even that much interested in the Film Because it seemed like a Horror Flick. I don’t care for Horror personally so trailers def gave Vampire Horror flick.

So I Def get it from the trailers.

The Hype and reviews the week of the opening weekend was so crazy I started to get more interested.

But it was Spike Lee on Melos Podcast and this video below that made me go out last sat and it was moving experience for me personally.

I had to support after watching this. This is pure love for Film here.

Going back for seconds to watch it on 70mm IMAX this weekend. It’s only being shown in 10 places in the entire Globe. Gotta do it.

I'm hesitant to say something about a movie I haven't seen and a subject I only know the tiniest bit about, but the roots to the blues may have come from voodoo and old religions and traditions which Christians tended to see anything that wasn't Christian as the work of the devil. But the origins of the music and how it persevered was more nuanced than that.

Just my 2 cents.

And if you dig deeper there's a ton more symbolism and messages....I need to see it again. PS I actually think if they wanted to they could y make a prequel to this , just focusing on the twins exploits before coming back home.

I would absolutely watch the story of how the twins got involved with Al Capone and robbed the Chicago mobs

This movie was gd brilliant. Smoke and Stack were brilliantly realised. Jamie Layton (Pearline lookd like my ex. Crazy.) The music, the story ... everything on point. Coogler is a freakin' genius.qz
