The star players dad roaming the sideline is off. This isnt school sports. And its not like there hasn't been leaks of players not fcking with it and it poses problems to undermine the HC authority which could be a real problem for a young rookie HC.

And more importantly this is Chris Smith errasure and a gross derailment of the thread.

Be better MP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember when Donte got into it with Rick Brunson about how much control he has? It's shaky ground having a star players father being part of the staff.

Didn't Donte say during that exchange that he was talking to Thibs?

when i read that piece yesterday, his approach honestly sounds like thibs foundations with more emphasis on player movement and better communication and relationships.

that sounds like exactly what this team needs.

edit: it also reinforces the notion that he was a huge loss.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

I'm not averse to Kidd, but meh. I'm not a fan of him (this has nothing to do with coaching, I think he's a good coach).

I think if Knicks do want Kidd it’s just gonna come down to how much it’ll cost Knicks in draft capital

At most it will be a 2nd round pick.

I assumed it would be 2 or 3 of them. Not like Knicks can deal there last remaining first or swaps for him

Yeah he sounds exactly the kind of basketball mind that will unlock this rosters potential.

I've always been of the belief that you create the system and team identity based on personnel and what everyone does best.

I can see Mikal having a better season with this kind of approach.

Firing Thibs for Jason Kidd is not where I expected this to go.

Just run it back with JVG

Can we just resurrect Red Holzman? Maybe have an AI robot version of him on the sidelines after uploading his coaching career into it.

A 2nd round pick is all the Knicks should have to give up for him, especially if he wants out.

How can a GM or HoBO feel comfortable forcing a guy to coach his team if he wants to leave, especially considering they will be having the number 1 pick generational talent coming in for his rookie year. No way you want to have anything but immaculate vibes or it could damage the guy's career.

Knowing how the Mavs franchise feels about the Knicks they'll do everything can to screw them and the league will let it happen if their purposeful tank to keep their pick away from the Knicks is any indication. That bumbling franchise has been given more luck than they deserve, more than the Knicks ever got when they were inept.

Sorry if this has been posted. Interesting tidbit with Kidd being so close to Casey Smith. Add in the history with Brunson and Kidd’s potential frustration with the Luka trade..

Seems like Bryant or Kidd are the two most likely options as of now. Both with ties, but obviously Bryant’s is a direct tie to the front office, team, etc.

No Jason Kidd who’s always looking for his next hustle, no non coaching NBA Jay Wright, no old ass 1999 JVG, bring in Johnny Bryant.

It’s no simpler than this, you don’t know what a person is built for until you give them that opportunity to prove themself.

Eric Spo was a video assistant/advance scout/assistant coach then coached the Heat to a 15-67 record then the year after, he was coaching LeBron/Wade/Bosh.

I get the appeal of a big name taking the reins but sometimes that’s all it is, a big name. How often have we been talking about a young fresh face to inject energy and I’m not talking penicillin.

Take more chances, let’s go Johnny.

i'm not worried about johnny's relative youth because we've already seen him command the respect of our star player for several years
