All this talk about Dexter made me realize that we never saw Dexter. Since there's no basketball, my wife and I have binged 6 seasons since this thread went up!
good ****, right?
I'm surprised at what good **** this is!

Awesome. We all the way back.
Since Resurrection started i've made it half way thru season 7 and working my way up to watching this series. That is if I don't decide to use my newly acquired knowledge of how to be a serial killer and no longer have time left for the mundane pleasures of television. Now off to Miami to try to find a boat. Can boats in Miami get Gotham Sports?

Following this order?
1) original Dexter (seasons 1-8), 2) Dexter: New Blood 3) Dexter: Original Sin 4) Dexter: Resurrection

Yes, so I've actually seen over half the episodes available. At home for my wife and me, it's become All Dexter All the Time™.

1) In general, it reminded me of the good seasons of the original show (1-4 and 7).
2)
Spoiler:
[The serial killers reunions concept is cool but more suitable for comics than TV drama series.
3) I didnt get how Umma/Peter caracters could not figure out the Dexter identity after knowing Harrison Morgan was his son. Would be so hard to find out who is his father?
4) I also did not like the scene of Baptista death. Releasing Baptista was not smart. He could have tried to make a deal of accepting killing for Peter in exchange of keeping Baptista alive. Or he could tried to face Umma. He basically used Baptista as a human shield.

I started the original Dexter Season 1after seeing this thread. Tonight I finished season 8. On to Original Sin tomorrow. Need to finish Resurrection before the Season starts.

I can't believe they didn't renew Original Sin, that show was so refreshing, seeing younger versions of each character! And Deb and Dexter's social lives made it a lot lighter than Resurrection, so it was a completely different show that bought in a younger audience.
There was no point cancelling it, and i'm also disappointed to hear the writers have told the media what the story was going to be in future seasons... They shouldn't have said anything about that, because after Resurrection finishes its 3 or 5 seasons they may end up bringing Original Sin back.
Lots of bad shows are going to come and go in the next few years, so Showtime will need Original Sin eventually.
Just finished New Blood, took a few days off for Foundation, and starting Original Sin tonight. Need to complete watching through Resurrection before the season starts!
Real spoiler -- don't read if you don't want to spoil New Blood.
Spoiler:
I'm glad I'm binging all of Dexter because otherwise the ending of New Blood would have been very upsetting. Also, was Ghost-Deb the bitchiest version of her ever? I thought she might hound Dexter to death.

Spoiler:
Dexter doing what he did to Logan, is the worst writing in the history of Dexter They absolutely ruined Dexter's image I know Dexter has made mistakes regularly throughout his life, but they were all explainable, until the end of New Blood which made ZERO sense! And when Dexter said "he wouldn't cooperate"? Totally pathetic writing, turning Dexter into just another loser criminal... Yup i had to turn the sound down during the Ghost-Deb scenes Other than those things, i loved New Blood, it was very unique and Kurt's trophies were mindblowing I like Resurrection more, but only because the New Blood Finale was so poorly done...
BKlutch wrote:It's not only RealGM that likes Dexter. Fans everywhere love Resurrection.
I hope the Knicks can slice through the NBA this season as easily as Dexter did his victims. LOL
I agree with those ratings, New Blood was BRILLIANT if we exclude the finale and the writers obviously tried to write their way out of that hole, but they damaged Dexter's reputation forever with his actions at the end of New Blood... Whereas Resurrection had an excellent finale, but i hope Dexter goes back to Miami, because i love the brightness... which i loved in Original Sin, but now its gone, so we need to get Resurrection back to Miami.

I liked New Blood but didn't love it. Some of the characters rang a little flat and the small town backdrop was a little too mundane for me at times. Regarding the finale,
Spoiler:
From what I recall it wasn't the first time Dexter strayed from his code. n the first series, cant remember which season, I recall him killing a old guy who accosted him in a bathroom. I think he did it out of anger or the "urge" but dude was a rando who he didn't have to kill.

Spoiler:
But Dexter only did that because he was mourning Rita's death. He blamed himself and went depressed and crazy, so the writing was perfect on that occasion. Whereas Dexter's actions at the end of New Blood made no sense, definitely the worst writing I've ever seen, totally sabotaging the character. Dexter was clear-headed and killed Logan, which he'd never do. He would have bided his time and manipulated the criminal justice system or bargained his way out (and in the opening of Resurrection we learn his girlfriend let him go because he gave her Kurt's trophies).

Spoiler:
It looked like self defense to me,I actually think this was way more justifiable than killing that old rando

Looks like Logan was defending himself, as Dexter was slamming Logan into the bars. Logan had no way of getting free, so the gun was his only option. Killing the old rando wasn't justifiable according to the code, but it was justifiable writing, because Dexter had lost his mind because Rita had just died so he wasn't supposed to be clear-headed... I mean he killed that guy just before Rita's funeral.

Spoken like a true officionado! Yes, completely agree with what you said in your first spoiler, too. That (second spoiler) was so poorly done and could have been handled in many different ways. It seems, though, they used it because it set up the ending, which was also bad.
I'm now half way through Original Sin, which is interesting and is better because Michael C Hall is the Executive Director and narrator. I love how Batista. LaGuerta, and Masuda are being played, but I think the match for Deb wasn't great. One thing about Deb is she was very tall and thin, and never seemed childlike despite her ability to get excited easily. This younger Deb is more like many more ordinary teens. She also just doesn't say the work "fuсk" right.
