LOL... not my take, but if you put a few reports together that is one theory out there.

Yup, the future of the NY Knicks is up in the air because Lebron does not want to hurt Bosh's feelings.

I mean could you look this guy in the eyes and tell him that you don't want him on your team anymore?

If we trade STAT we better not give up any firsts in like 2019 or something.

So if SaS is Carmelo's "Mouth Piece" Is it Carmelo Hinting that the Knicks should trade Stoudemire to the 6'ers?

Plausible. It would be weird to opt out and just not talk to them.

That's conjecture.

But the astute fans who really want to put this sort of scenario should do the math and see if such a transaction puts the Sixers AT/near or OVER the floor. Because those are two VERY different scenarios.

Every dime OVER the floor is a dime coming out of the Sixers pockets that they don't have to pay. That remains in their coffers as they try to rebuild.

Is there a Stat scenario that places the Sixers on the floor rather than millions OVER it?

As I say, the smart fan thinking this is a realistic scenario would be doing that math right now.

Not that I expect it to happen, but Philly, with Amare and Shump, and without signing any of their draft picks yet would be at $52,002,216.

I assume they have to get to within 90% of the cap minimum? Which would be $50,623,200.

The floor is 90% of the cap. So it'll likely be about $57m.

Also key to remember, your payroll isn't calculated until the end of the year. Doesn't mean a whit if you're under the floor at the beginning of the year.

So if the minimum is just under $57M and Stat/Shump only brings them to just over $52, they technically would be able to sign their draft picks and still stay under the number. And if they moved Richardson's contract (I don't see Young as likely) back, they are well below the number still?

-Knicks 70%
-Then Miami
-Then LAL
-Houston with an outside shot

Bulls? They can go F themselves. Melo laughs at there insulting $80mil offer

The more time passes without a decision from Melo considering he knows the Knicks offer, the more it looks like he is holding out hope to play somewhere else.

Lets pretend that the Amare and Shump deal is on table, we should definitely be able to move Bargs with Timmy and future first if needed.

If we clear those four, where does that leave us salary-wise?

Whle I agree with this, somebody made a good point yesterday that Melo could be waiting to see what other moves Phil can make now vs. next year so that he can structure his salary accordingly.

Although, if that was the case, it would make more sense to inform the other teams that they are out of consideration.

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 40s

Seeing how Bulls, Rockets and Mavs are all engaged with other free agents sure suggests they buy premise Melo is down to Knicks and Lakers

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 1m

To this point, still no firm indication from Melo or his camp telling Bulls, Rockets or Mavs that they're out of the running. However ...

So are we moving Amare for Pau? Unless we have a good chance of landing Pau and by extension Marc, I'd just as soon let Stat expire...

Maybe you do put the cart before the horse and get the Amar'e deal done first ... puts some shark bait in the water to whet LeBron's appetite.
