I agree neither team is winning anything in the next 3 years. But I'd rather have their roster and infinite shots at finding a star in the draft. Simmons is one of the 3 worst contracts in the league but I think he'll actually just be fine staying away from the team and ramming Kardashians and playing Xbox, so his deal will just be an excuse to tank harder and play the picks.

Mikal Bridges alone has more value than any player or draft asset the Knicks have.

Holy Mikal overhype

What player on contract or future draft asset would be worth more than Mikal Bridges?

Imagine trusting a team with World B Flat on it without Lebron keeping him in check.

Their picks, roster and future are far brighter than our capped out mid hellscape where we trade

Charlotte's 1st and our 1st for Josh Hart.

Knicks will have cap space for a max in 2024. FA is 2023 in weak. Doesn't seem like you know what you're talking about in that regards. Can't call the Knicks mid if they just got there.

We'll be at $100 million assuming we let Fournier walk and don't take on more awful contracts. The cap is 123.65 this year, what exactly is the cap going to be in 2024? And what will the max for the veteran star that isn't coming here be?

Eh, you don't need to love CAA to see that. 99% of this forum hates CAA and most would agree Brunson has more value than Mikal.

Let's use better arguments.

Sham deserve a medal of honor for destroying that championship window. Walked around here with nets gear on yet all he gets for that sacrifice is chit.

OK, Bridges is an elite defending wing who shoots the 3 at an elite clip, 88% from the line. He's top 20 in offensive and defensive win shares. He's basically the prototype 3 and D wing that every competitive team covets.

Bridges is All Defensive 1st team, incredibly durable leading the league in minutes.

Bridges is a vastly superior shooter over the same career period as Brunson.

Image

So given all that,
Bridges being a superior shooter
more durable
and nobody is debating that he is vastly better defender
what are you talking about?

Bridges: $20,100,000 $21,700,000 $23,300,000 $24,900,000
Brunson: $27,733,332 $26,346,666 $24,960,001 $24,960,001

The cherry on top is he makes $7 million less.

Downside is I don't think Bridges is a CAA client. His dad isn't a coach for us either.

Teams offering 3 FRPs for OG and Bridges is better, and teams offering 4 FRP for Bridges already. Anybody offering 4 FRPs for Brunson (and his dad?).

In 2024, the Cap space will be around 140M.

Our known payroll will be at 99M (Brunson, Grimes, RJ, Randle, Mitch, Sims) if we do not re-sign IQ and both Harts, neither 2023 or 2024 FRP. It would give us around 35M in salary cap while the Max +5years player would be at 42M.

The Knicks would never consider trading Brunson and we aren’t tanking, so why would there be an offer? He is the best Knicks PG I’ve ever watched (and that’s sad, but true). The 4 picks if true were probably the Knicks offering up their 4 heavily protected picks from the Mavs Bucks Wizards and Pistons that nobody wants. I wouldn’t trade Brunson for picks like that either
