Well, it would explain why the defense seemed neutered out there.

Grimes is the key. Lots of ability, his success would push Donte to the ideal role off the bench. Grow up Grimes.

Here's the deal. Grimes averaged 29.9 minutes a game and 8.5 shots a game last season.

This season he is averaging 20.5 minutes a game and 5.7 shots.

Last season, he got a chance to get into a rhythm every game that he started, play a lot of minutes (particularly before the Hart acquisition), and make a major contribution. He literally saved our season last year with his defense and shooting.

This season, he could go 7-8 minutes in the first quarter of games without even seeing the ball, despite being open for shots - thanks to the supreme selfishness of our three top players, all encouraged by our coach.

I do not doubt that if management trades Quentin Grimes, he will go elsewhere and get back to being the same player he was last year. He just needs the minutes and the ability to get comfortable.

The double standards allowed by Thibs are perhaps the biggest reason this team has struggled.

If they trade Grimes in a crackpot package for Murray, watch Murray's play decline as Brunson, Randle, Murray, and OG all end up competing for shots.

Grimes and OG into the starting unit could make us decent/average defensively. Donte can take up the IQ role off the bench. I also like that we now have a backup PF.

Def adds up. Well with RJ gone, and IQ. He needs to grab it.

I still would prefer to trade Randle.

I think we need to take a break from that while the team looks to assimilate these new players. Bound to be some growing pains.

I see this trade as a move where we start gelling during the last 25 games, like we did after we made the Derrick Rose trade.

Randle's not going anywhere. We need to get used to that idea.

As for Grimes, I hope we keep him and develop him. He's the perfect 2 guard.

Wouldn’t say that. Don’t think anyone not named Brunson is safe from a trade now. Might not happen at the deadline, but wouldn’t be surprised if Randle is gone in the offseason. Especially if he **** the bed again in the playoffs.

Obi is bulking up. He wasn't as easy to push around anymore. He was noticeably stronger

To be fair, while I think you're probably right, people could and did say the same about RJ and his contract.

In fact, as recently as the PG thread in Orlando -- RJ's last game as a Knick -- god sham was saying there's no way any team would want RJ because they all have League Pass lol.
