I think they give Hartenstein his contract at 4/54mil.
I think they put a QO on Achiuwa which makes him a RFA or if he picks up the option he's on a 1 year 6.2mil contract.
And then they shop Mitch.
Mitch could be in the "big trade" or he can be moved to get "better fitting pieces" or "future draft capital".
Once, thats resolved, with the depressed RFA of Achiuwa, they'll resign him to something along the lines of 3 years 27mil with a team option.

That could def be an option. There are so many moving parts and variables to this. It may depend on health, cost, other trades, and performance in the playoffs. But great to have options.

I still think having an iHart/Mitch center corps would be sick if both would be okay with splitting minutes moving forward.

Mitch has taken his man off the dribble before and has shown the ability to make outside shots.

Off shooting game from Brunson and Donte and we still won handedly.

-Another great game from Precious. He has been playing fantastic.
-Bogey lit it up in the first.
-Big game for Sims on the boards
-Deuce was a menace on the defensive end. That helped switch momentum back to us.
-Another good all around game from Hart
-Props to Thibs for playing some small ball lineups and trusting Deuce.

Sometimes you need to match Deuce with the speedy players

The injury is definitely costing Isaiah money.

He looked like a guy on the verge of getting a contract starting around 17-20 mill a year from someone in January. Now I doubt any team gives him more than the 15 we can give him. So that’s good news I guess, as long as he stays healthy of course.

He’s probably going to be on a minute restriction for a while, or at least should be. No more than 30-32 mpg with frequent rests if we were smart. Precious and Sims gotta man the fort and Mitch is hopefully not far away.

Good news for us. He should be fine playing a reasonable amount of minutes - which doesn't happen when Thibs get tight.

A lot will happen between now and the offseason. I can see all kinds of scenarios, including a scenario where the Knicks give the Celtics a run for their money and maybe even beat them. Our frontcourt defense can be that elite.

Yeah we keep saying that things change fast.

Josh came here last season and the team immediately went on a 9 game winning streak, with him hitting threes and just being everywhere. He ends up getting a big contract and regresses this season so far (although he’s been waking up lately).

Mitch started the year looking like a DPOY candidate, but of course he got hurt again. Not surprised with him.

Isaiah took over for Mitch and also looked like a DPOY candidate, leading the league in DEPM (the best advanced stat for defense) then he gets hurt too (although not seriously as of now).

Julius had an All Star season, then gets a freak injury. Likely out for the season or wont be 100% if he comes back.

Precious got traded twice in 4 years and looked lost when we got him, but since Julius/OG went down he’s had a renaissance resurgence. We’re actually worried about bringing him back now when 6 weeks ago that would have been laughable.

Donte started the season shooting like 46% from 3 the first few months, but his percentages are slowly dropping. Obviously a lot of that is the increased role and attention he’s getting with all the injuries, but still.

OG was a plus minus savant who looked like he could actually win DPOY at the pace he was on, then he gets a stupid bone spur.

Grimes was supposed to be our 3/D starting shooting guard of the future, then he took a step back and got traded.

Deuce was a 3rd stringer and afterthought at the beginning of the season, but after IQ and Grimes left he’s proven he belongs in the rotation.

Point is a season has many ups and downs. A month or two from now, and especially after the playoffs, things will look different again. Let’s all enjoy the moment, but see the bigger picture too.

i think both their PT will be determined by the situations. burks might play when it calls for a release valve. deuce when it calls for that dog heart wild apache side teeth front teeth pull all teeth.

i don't think deuce got extended to languish outside the rotation. burks is a nice-to-have, not a priority.

I mean, Deuce was playing even better before the trade to bring in Burks.

The only way I give Thibs any small grace on this is that maybe he saw Deuce wanting offense more (never mind that he was making shots) and that his defense slipped a little.

Still doesn’t make any sense and doesn’t bode well for the playoffs.

One concern I have for the playoffs is having a defensive guard stopper to replace what Grimes’ was giving us. Yesterday Deuce provided that in the 4th when he locked up Maxey (who was torching everyone else with ease). And Deuce has several key deflections and swipes. We need that against most playoff teams.
