Honestly the trade for kat made us a better team because playing sims in the starting lineup would kill us. Starting Randle over kat at the 5 would be worse, too.

Really the problem is mitch being hurt all time. sham's fault. Always has been always will be. Yet he comes in here acting like we're the issue.

The team's identity is stuff is funny, off court it's Tom, on court lets be real, that is just Josh Hart. All the hustle and scrappy hard work stuff comes down to him, trading for him is when the team really took on that identity. People can't have it both ways, they can't claim the team identity is reliant on big centers and pounding teams, when one of them is chronically injured and has missed 72 games the last two seasons.

Let's not ignore that iHart also had his injury woes and some of his ineffectual stretches in the two years he was with the Knicks stemmed from them even though he may have been available more often. Now he's out again for a couple of months with his new team after signing for $30mil.

KAT isn't a picture of perfect health either but the east is filled with injury riddled big men so it's not just the Knicks players who are that with contenders in the conference. We won't even see this team's 'identity' until after a couple months anyway because there are new players and they need time to gel.

With Hartenstein leaving in free agency, and Mitch getting hurt, what was the pathway to keeping that identity?

Would folks here want us to trade for Gobert instead of KAT? What were the other solutions out there?

I loved the identity of last year's team. They found gritty ways to win even as their efficiency from the floor was below average. They literally capitalized on missed shots to gain a competitive advantage. The way I see it, the Knicks finally made the step to becoming a modern NBA team, and the reality is that they were forced to do so by exogenous factors (the CBA and injury).

How do you define toughness?

To me toughness is measured by rebounding, being clutch, getting to the line, giving hard fouls and staying poised during a losing streak and of course not getting punked and intimidated during altercations.
