KAT and Jalen had 49 points

Mitchell and Mobley had 48 points

Even as good as Mitchell and Mobley shot, they still got outscored by KAT and Jalen

The issue is the bench. We don't have enough offensive firepower to match their bench. Also, we have good defenders on our team, but we need ELITE to stop them from scoring 142 on us.

Still, I honestly think we just didn't have the legs to play against the Cavs last night. I expected them to blow us out.

Cmon now, the talent gap is wide. Its was basically Towns Brunson and Mikal vs the entire Cavs roster. Who are these other secret great players we have that Thibs is not playing enough lol

We had 4 total bench points for almost the entire game until garbage time

Only Knicks fans would say Landry Shamet and the 58th pick are as good as Evan Mobley and De'Andre Hunter but aren't being used right

And yes this is a rhetorical question because there is an answer but then ask yourself will our coach run more of that defense?

The answer is no.

Also there is no reason this team should struggle so mightily vs the top teams.

That suggests that teams no we don't really run much schedule offense and they can take away our strengths to easily and don't have counters. Our counters to teams putting a small player on KAT is just post ups from 20 feet away. Our counters to teams trapping Brunson is to run more P&R and force brunson into tough doubles.

I'm not saying we are better than CLE and BOS. But the gap in talent isn't that large where we are getting our doors blown off. Scheme is rotten. That is coaching to me.
What defence do you suggest? Can't switch, can't go under. KAT isn't quick enough to blitz.

Are you calling for zone? Thibs doesn't zone not even a little bit.

Exactly my point. A matchup zone might be the best strategy to protect brunson and KAT in the P&R. Put OG and Mikal at the top of the zone managing all the screens. Put Brunson in a corner and hide him. So no matter who comes up to screen brunson or KAT won't go with them.

I agree. Pac doesn't have star physical attributes but whatever his ceiling is in this league he's going to reach it.

3pac hive eating great today.

Mikal on notice about to lose his job and thibs exposed for not playing him enough. He'll we might have only lost by single digits if he got run. Og and jHart would be healthy if he played more.

Truth be told, we would prolly be challenging GS for the best record of all time If only 3pac would get his deserved run.

Our bench is an issue for sure, but Jarrett allen, Donovan mitchell and mobley literally shot 11-11 on KAT. That is a big issue fam. For years his defense at the 5 has been a major problem for him and it was so bad that it forced the Timberwolves to give up a premium for Gobert. The Knicks will either have to trade for a big time defender to help him out or just trade KAT all together in a package for someone like Giannis. The Timberwolves tried to do the same thing we did, by putting stout defenders like McDaniels, Kyle Anderson, Ant and NAW next to KAT in small ball lineups and it graded out as one of the worst defensive lineups in the league. You just can't win with him at the 5 against contenders.
Towns-centered teams were glorified turnstiles for a large part of his early career. Minnesota ranked in the bottom 10 in defense for six straight seasons from 2015-16 to 2020-21, with their best performance coming in the year Towns missed almost half of their games.

That was obvious watching the game.

The Cavs built nice depth. Wade is a good player, and Hunter, Okoro and Jerome can all play.

I remember catching a few college games with Ty Jerome a few years back. I thought he was a baller and I was surprised to see him struggle his first few years in the league. It's nice to see him find his footing and carve out a role on a contender.

I loved the signing of Strus a year ago too. What they needed was role players who are fine with spotting up and doing the dirty work. And they can stagger Mitchell and Garland and always have elite shot creation on the court.

They upgraded their bench and their core starters had 3 years to play together. If we judged them when Donovan Mitchell first got there it did not look too great. We need to stagger our bench so they dont get blown out. The Cavs bench is like when we had the luxury of IQ, Josh Hart, Deuce and IHart

I saw it coming to but it didn't stop me from showing up. And I'm not feeling too confident about Boston either. The injuries and game plan of giving up 3s and not scheming to set up 3s is a bad recipe in this L.

Plus I truly feel that we can't have nice things.
