Re: Breaking: Tom Fired
I will appreciate Thibs for what he did. He helped change the perception of the franchise. Him and the front office brought winning and legitimate hope. There were many, many years I would’ve killed to have a semblance of that with this team.
That being said, Thibs definitely has his flaws. It was the right decision. This next move will be even more important. Whether this is a proven NBA coach, a rising star, or a decorated coach at the college level, you NEED to hit here. You can’t make a move like this and go backwards

This was definitely the turning point. Many of us called it. It was a historical meltdown that only making it to the finals could’ve fixed

My money is on Thibs being the odd man out. IDK if it’s this summer or mid-season but I bet they make tweaks to stack the bench with defenders/shooters/fresh legs and if Tom refuses to adjust they just bring in Mike Malone.
This drunk Knick fan in the tunnel yelled “get us Giannis” to Leon and Leon looked disgusted. I don’t see them it blowing up. IMO the weakest link, easiest to replace, and most vulnerable is Thibs. If Malone is in. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an announcement sooner than later to quash Giannis rumors.
My post game-6 comments. Seemed like the vibe in the tunnel was KAT forever, Thibs never.

What did Tom do to help fix the problem?
Why did he wait til we were down 0-2 to start using the bench?
Tom made more than 'some' mistakes in my opinion. This team had issues all year long.

This would make a lot of sense. If there’s one man that would be right for the job it’s probably him. I don’t think Leon is firing Thibs just go on a coaching search. There has to be a replacement already on the way and this one makes sense
jay wright would be crazy.
still processing.
johnnie bryant represents minimal disruption if nothing else. the team knows him and there'd be continuity.
It’s Johnnie Bryant or its Jay Wright, I’m telling you

I seem to recall Pierce’s Hawks being terrible until they replaced him with Nate McMillan. How can these possibly be the top two choices after Thibs?

it was terrible coaching to go over 3 minutes and giving up 9 pts off the lead without calling a singular TO.
Letting Nesmith continue to bomb away with no adjustments. Sure players make mistakes but that is why coaches can settle the team down and clearly explain what they need for everyone at the end of the game.

He won't, but he also won't let them only run 13-18 PnRs per game between them. Our offense is gross and doesn't play to it's strengths at all. There was a point in the playoffs where Brunson/KAT were running less PnR per game than Portis and Porter Jr.
Everyone expected a deadly two man game between them, we got none of that.
