So originally I had one plan going into the next two picks. Now I've stumbled upon a new plan! I think I'm about to screw up a lot of people's boards.

OK -- On Faried

Go to 82games.com and guess what you'll see? Faried played 0% of the team's minutes at SF. /debate.

I was 50/50 on what the "perception" would be and I figured that someone on this board could look at him as a steal and take him before my 145th pick. I just felt when you put my situation into context- based on his Net season. I believed, he was worth the risk.[/quote]

Don't get me wrong fam. I like Green and I'm quite happy to see he's gotten himself together and resurrected his career. Also, I'm not gonna sit here and front like he wasn't on my board. I was kinda keeping tabs on him as a potential 6th/7th rounder as instant offense off the bench with the athleticism to finish as long as he has a PG with vision to create for him. But to nab him this early was definitely a reach.

You have to operate with a firm grasp of getting the most out of every pick you make. Evaluate where a guy should go in other GM's eyes (keep a realistic pulse of the league and player appraisals by your contemporaries) and look for your guys in conjunction with where you project they would be relative to another useful guy you may need, that you could possibly get before the guy who's questionable in rival GM's eyes per the draft slot.

The correct move to maximize your assets as an efficient GM would have been to trade down and then leverage your #85th pick into more quantative assets, nabbing Green a little later while getting another useful pick out of it for depth.

Now this is a "difference in opinion post" that I can deal with. I agree with most of what you mention in your post. I made an error in negotiations which cost me the opportunity to maximize pick 85. At that point it became a "will Green be available in the middle of the 6th round".

As GM of my team I feel that Green is ready for a starting opportunity with Rondo at the helm. Especially since they were on the same team already. Compound that with the fact that I believe that his combination of what he did with the Nets and the heart and "clutch-ness" that he displayed this year. When I compared him to other SG that were sexy and available. I didn't believe any of those guys possessed his heart, fire, toughness and upside. He is ready to make that leap into consistency. We are committed to his development in realizing his potential and Rondo will will take him under his wing.
