Bernard King did NOT play in the ECF in a Knicks uniform. King didn't ever play in a conference finals period.

1983 - 2nd round Knicks lost 4-0

1984 - 2nd round Knicks lost 4-3

1985 - Knicks didn't make the playoffs

1986 - Knicks didn't make the playoffs

1987 - Knicks didn't make the playoffs
http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_1987.html

Only other years he made the playoffs were in 78-79 (NJN, 1st round loss), 87-88 (WSB, 1st round loss) & 92-93 (NJN, 1st round loss).

So Melo had more playoff appearances as a Knick and got as far.

Sniff sniff

Unfortunately, you have no clue how great those teams were that BK had to go up against. it wasn't the trash that Melo had to play against. Both those series against the Pistons and Celtics were EPIC!!!!! No way doesn't Melo get past the Pistons in the first round, let alone win one game against those Celtics who were all in their prime.

That's an opinion. Like the opinion that King wouldn't win one game against LAL with Kobe & Pau in their prime.

The fact is he got as far as Melo did here. For some reason it was ok when he did it, but it's held against Melo.

How about we say the truth?

We had our most success in a decade plus with this guy.

We can't even come close to replicating that given his decline & the many many many many many bad transactions this franchise has done since he's been here.

He needs to go.

We need to move on.

Agreed.

I reacted emotionally because back then I was here to talk Knicks, not politics and it was ripped away from me. And I think I did a damn good job along with a lot of other great posters entertaining the Knicks board.

I see we have something else in common. Welcome to the club. I got booted off the site over a CA fight (via PM too!).

Welcome back.

We all do NOT have politics in common with Battery but I <3 <3 <3 him anyway.

And that is why I told Howard that I'm just here to talk Knicks basketball.

The president threw him under the bus, not the other way around.

You want to come at his play, fair game. But you are lying about a whole lot and ignoring so much just to scapegoat the one guy who brought anything of relevance, no matter how minor, to this franchise in a decade plus.

No matter what way you spin it, Melo was never a top 10 player with us. No matter what we did, 9-10 other teams had a better starting card. There's no reason to feel bad. There's a lot more deserving players that should have won a ring as the primary option that didn't.

What are you talking about? Who said he was a top 10'player in the NBA? Though, IMO, he clearly was from the moment Lin chose a payday over playoffs till he became a FA.

Melo lost his mind that March-April....then we got the **** smacked out of us by the Heat.

Why does Houston want Melo so much? His uptempo days may be over.

I know he didn't have a good playoffs but Anderson was still capable of destroying us lol.

Yeah - and it's why we basically put the kibosh on politics talk on the basketball boards and are trending towards individual board bans prior to/rather than site bans. Mostly those threads are a pain in the ass here. The CA board is its own animal.

We didn't lose to garbage teams.

Right, but the 83 6ers and 80s Celtics are legendary teams, no shame in losing to them

The 11 Celtics were old and busted, the Pacers were nothing special, really the Heat were the only "historic" team

Plus, if you wanna say that those teams were good, then that means you can't use the argument that LeBron hasn't had any competition in the East

because he's one of the most effective and clutch catch and shoot players in the league and he's got a post game and ISO game that can be relied on

he's almost never had real playmakers. In denver he had a couple and they won. often.
in Houston he would have

I was at that CHI game. Had great seats. I remember thinking we're the Knicks we always lose heartbreakers against good teams. I actually saw the first matchup at MSG that year too, so I had no hope. Then he hits the shot to tie it. Then the shot to take the lead. Place was an absolute mad house. Kept drinking all day to celebrate.

Good times.
