We are selling low.

Fk Houston
Fk Melo
Fk Cleveland.

They will come crawling to us with their best offer during the season once it gets serious.

Trading Melo now = selling low.

Keep his ass.

What if they get off to good starts?

In order for us to move forward, he needs to be gone. There are ways to get around all this.

We all do NOT have politics in common with Battery but I <3 <3 <3 him anyway.

And that is why I told Howard that I'm just here to talk Knicks basketball.

What summoned you back? Was it my mention of you in that one thread a week or two ago?

People want Melo traded, fine. But not sure why he's being met with such vitriol.

Some short memories here.

In the past decade not a single prominent player wanted to be a part of this toxic franchise. Melo did. He actually wanted to play here in front of the NY fans. When all other stars preferred to taunt us and punk us.

He wasted his prime by playing here with at best a bunch of has beens as his top supporting talent. Amare, Chauncey, Rose and Noah, Bargnagni (lol)!.

Its not his fault he couldnt get any of his superstar buddy's to join him. It wasnt his responsibility anyway. Walsh, Grunfeld, Mills, Jackson, these guys are paid millions to build the team. Theyre to blame, not Melo.

Just not sure where all the Melo hate comes from honestly...

I know he didn't have a good playoffs but Anderson was still capable of destroying us lol.

Melo is a 4 now. He's can get up and down there. Not at the 3.

I said this before.

KP
Melo
A defensive SF
Lee
Rondo/Frank

Would be devastating. It's going to hurt watching this dude go somewhere else and ball out because he's being used right.

He defends better at the 4 and he devastating on offense at the 4. He's still quicker than most 4's.

He can not defend 3's and settles for jumpers on 3's because he can't consistently get by them.

He's slower but not ashes.

No. I don't really know. I guess I sort of lurked all these years but never got the urge to post here. Maybe because I thought we were finally heading in the right direction - going with the youth which I love.

Ummm but those Celtics teams in the 80's were much better than the Lakers teams with Kobe and Pau.

Ummmmmmmm Kobe Pau Bynum Odom

Now we're discrediting back to back champions just to bash Melo

LOL

We're talking prime Bird, Parrish and McHale. plus Ainge and DJ. Entertainment at the highest level even though I hated the Celtics.

LMAO

I just named 2 1st ballot HOF dudes with an insane 3rd & 4th option.

But hey Melo didn't play BOS so they were better.

KP does have that hype.

See bold.

Hype for what Porzingis, or any player for that matter, could be is not equatable to the hype an established player brings/should bring if your team is 'supposedly' in the position to compete, ala Knicks post 2010 plan (with hindsight, we can obviously pick apart the Knicks and their likelihood of competing, but that was the conventional fanbase expectation among most on this forum at the time, whether you find it agreeable or not). Porzingis is in no way established and could very well not be much more that what he is now.

His nickname is unicorn.
He's viewed by many on this board as the savior. All of his shortcomings are blamed on others and age.

Doesn't matter what his nickname is. The Porzingis hype is nowhere near the hype the Knicks were experience post Melo-trade, especially on this board. Doesn't even have to be a Melo/KP discussion. We're literally talking about what an established star player is and what he brings to a so called "competitive" team vs. what an up and coming player could be on a non-competitive team that might have a shot at being competitive one day.

because he's one of the most effective and clutch catch and shoot players in the league and he's got a post game and ISO game that can be relied on

he's almost never had real playmakers. In denver he had a couple and they won. often.
in Houston he would have

This.

'Melo can still be devastating as the 2nd/3rd option on a good team. In Houston, he would be motivated to show everyone he's still a top NBA talent (which he is). They will convince him to play mostly PF and he will thrive in that role because most of the guys defending him will be just a step too slow to be able to contest him consistently well.

You all will see. Whenever 'Melo had a legit PG finding him in rhythm. 'Melo needs to mix up his offense to be most effective. A few isos, a few open three's on the break, and a few pick and pop quick hits. Then he gets the occasional offensive put-back and dive to the hole. When motivated and feasting, 'Melo will rebound and defend better, especially at the 4 spot.

Since the year we had Kidd and won 54 games, 'Melo has been underachieving and hasn't been motivated. He's got 2-3 very good years left in Houston, barring injury. You all will see.

We won't regret trading him because we're on diverging paths, but we will realize, once again, how terrible our front office has been since 'Melo has arrived in maximizing his talents.
