Randle for Sabonis does net us the smarter player, a top level center, better passer too but the spacing Towns would provide… invaluable imo. All three don’t provide anything defensively, and, granted, Randle is probably the best of them on that end. Can’t match him up with Jokic or Embiid though…

Just like the writing on the wall was there for Donovan? There's nothing on wall. Contract will get resolved when it gets resolved. Nobody is rushing to ink a deal. Both sides have subtlety shown that.

I don't know the context and I didn't watch the video. Heh, liking one thing Pat said isn't universal.

I like Sabonis on this team far more than I do KAT. Sabonis does what I-Hart did, but better with his passing and potential for range. Defensively, well not a stud,he's fine with a strong supporting cast in OG and Bridges. Like Randle, I know what I'm getting night in and night out from Sabonis. Can't say the same for KAT. Like I keep falling back on, if his shot isn't dropping, he's deadweight.

Calling a 4x all star, 2x all NBA, career 22.9 ppg, 10.8 rpg player shooting 52-40-84 % over his career dead weight is beyond wild. The guy is a legit 7‘0. Y’all in here discussing Sims workout videos… is everyone freaking nuts? I get it, Towns can’t jump and is slow laterally, but he is also one of the most reliable and steady players in the league.

I generally respect your basketball opinion very much, but this is just wrong. I’ve been watching most teams over the years on league pass. I don’t watch highlights at all. Due to Edwards‘ ascension to stardom I’ve watched the wolves a lot. Towns is one of the most fundamentally sound scorers you’ll find in the NBA, scores on all levels and frequently punishes help defenders or smaller guys on the switch near the basket. This BS is all narrative. The guy can flat-out play. You keep coming back to the if his shot isn’t falling argument - well it is falling pretty much all the time. Against Dallas everybody’s hero Edwards shot only 43 FG%. Towns shot 44% from three over the first two rounds. This sht happens, that’s a young team. Y‘all better be careful with your takes. Again, the guy has basically been averaging 23 ppg, 11 rpg for ten years. He’s even doing this as a second option now. Minnesota might just prove you wrong. This could be a very bad look soon.

I like that they’re holding on to Towns. He should be the best Robin in the game. Too bad we’re stuck with just another wannabe Carmelo Anthony instead.

Maybe somebody who isn’t on this board can help:

Weve talked KAT quite a bit and folks have dug their heels in at this point.

I think Randle who was playing less alpha and more team ball when OG came was pretty good. That said I couldsee KAT as a better fit for us. But I acknowledge both have warts. Who fits us better? Not entirely sure as I could see it either way. But right now you have KAT locked in for 4 years , Randle only 1. Give me KAT 4 years vs Randle only 1 if it came to it.

On another topic:
What do you folks think of Sabonis?

Two things to note:

1) Rebounding is one of the most important parts of defense because it ends a possession. The two things that are most strongly predictive of team defensive success are deflections and rebounds. Both of these matter far more than blocks. Domas is among the best defensive rebounders in the league (Andre Drummond and Kevin Love both had higher DReb%, but in far fewer minutes) also a pretty darn good O rebounder as well.

2) Rim protection is about more than just blocking shots. Domas is not a great shot blocker. But he's pretty good about stepping up and getting vertical, creating a physical obstacle for someone driving to the rim. Even if he doesn't actually touch the ball, he's still altering the shot.

3) He would adequately replace Randles production on the inside while being able to capably play the Center position.

He is also basically 10M less than KAT this year

Randle+ McBride+ Dadiet for Damontas Sabonis

Rotation (approx minutes):
Sabonis (20), Robinson (20), Achiuwa (8)
OG(24), Sabonis (12), Achiuwa (12)
Bridges(20), OG (10), Hart (18)
DDV (25), Bridges (12), Hart (11)
Brunson (34), Schamet/Payne (14)

Yes - he's be the hero that made Brookly winners -- oh wait, no, he didn't do that either. OK, no legacy other than he's good to his mom and he's a great player talented shooter who's not a winner.

So was reading the Lakers are on the verge of signing (or have already signed) C Christian Koloko. This is the kid Toronto drafted 33rd out of Arizona a couple of yrs ago, who had to be shut down completely due to a blood clot issue. So glad to see that he was cleared for full contact I believe back in July and now is just waiting on approval from a medical panel before being fully reinstated into the NBA.

I've always liked him. I always saw Mitchell Robinson, only with more upside on both sides of the ball... Anyone else think maybe we could've/should've been on on this guy?

If the Lakers do go ahead with signing Koloko, there's talk about them waiving one of three players to make room, one being 6'11" C Colin Castleton. I've been watching video of Castleton since yesterday -- really like what I see. Big, long, quick/agile, plays hard, can score in the post with soft touch, budding jumper, rebounder, shot-blocker (blocked 3 shots a game his last year at Florida, over 2 a game in previous seasons in college). I'm hoping the Knicks are keeping an eye on this situation with the lakers.. If Castleton is waived by LA, that could be a good opportunity for us...I wouldn't mind picking him up at all.

Thoughts on this situation?
