We take Melo, their lunch, all wristwatches, wallets and frequent flyer miles.
For Curry and a pick.

These Knicks won 8 straight and like 13 out of 14 or something like that. They are VERY capable of pulling a similar stretch of winning basketball...With the deadline over, our guys will be back to playing ball without any distractions.
Also, how many teams in the L have swingmen that can go for 20 on any given night, ALONG with the 2nd leading scorer in the League. Cmon now. WIN WIN for the Knicks.
Next year, the whole squad will have a year under their belt, and if need be, they're trading value will rise if there's a trade to be made. The Knicks will be fine. This is our best season in years let's soak in this ****.
+1 Good post. Our team is still the 6th seed in the east with a star of our own, we still have much to root for.

Someone should do a statistical analysis of the number of pages in the Carmelo thread written after an inflammatory story but before it is subsequently denied by a second, completely contradictory story.
NETS SPOKESMAN: 'NO DEAL IN PLACE. NO MEETING SET UP.'
2:15 pm
A team official who is up-to-date on the talks between the Nets and Denver Nuggets regarding All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony told The Star-Ledger that no deal has been agreed to between the teams and as of now, no meeting has been set between Anthony and the Nets to discuss whether he would sign a contract extension if he were traded to the team.

We have to hold our ground. There's only one way that Melo goes to the Nets now, and thats if he agrees to basically squander no less than 4 years of his professional career on a team that isn't going anywhere after this trade happens.
If Melo says no, Denver will have no choice but to trade him... how can they possibly keep him after the public embarrassment that would ensue at him balking at one of the two potential suitors for him?
If the rumors are false... well we once again have an instance of fake hustle by Denver, and it becomes obvious that they are going to trade him to the Knicks, because I don't see any way the Nets don't feel like they are being used at that point. And if we don't get Melo, we don't get Melo... there are plenty of other fish in the sea in 2012 and this by no means is the end of the Knicks search for a 'ship. At this point all the Knicks can do is sit and wait, and if Melo goes to the Nets, so be it, and if he rejects them, you pounce like a Max Cat Tiger and fleece the **** out of Denver for being forced into a corner.

Re: [Camelo Thread Part 20] - Down to the Wire?
I don't think I truly believe anything being written right now has any truth. The idea that CAA is calling the Knicks in to "pitch" the team in some way is asinine. Does anyone think the Knicks and Nugs would agree to a trade only to have Melo say "nah, I'm only extending in Memphis" or something?
Honestly, doesn't take a lot to see there is a lot of bull in the air. Guess that's what it will be til it's done, tho.
That being said, if the Nuggets allow Carmelo to talk to the Knicks beforehand, they are either a) dumb or b) have convinced Melo to tell the Knicks "The extension is where it's at -- Jersey is close enough so either trade for me now or lose me to Jersey."
If it's B then screw him.

A source I know close to the Nets organization revealed to me that not only is Billy King giving up to Denver 5 first round draft picks, but his first born son as well. Stay tuned.

True story, if Anthony shoots them down again, fleece the shet out of them...I mean make this a historic fleecing. Any last ounce of leverage will be gone.

Eddy Curry, 2 pieces of MSG asbestos, and a rotted bucket of chicken bones found behind Jerome James' old locker.

One thing that has seemed true all season is that our Ws and Ls have seemed to have a lot to do with WC being on. He started the sesaon slow, and so did we. He started playing great and so did we. He got hurt, we took a step back (and had a tough schedule at that time). He gets his grove back a little we won a few.
My take on that was, wow, if that was a better/more consistent player we would really have something. I basically envisioned him as our poor man's Melo. Which is why I think the current team would flourish with Melo. Problem is, who will be left on that team.
But yea, if we miss out, we are still in pretty good shape. Better IMO than NJ with him.

No Felton for Billups swap. Chandler, Curry, Randolph/pick.....we're being nice in that scenario.

I'm hearing deal in place, but no meeting set yet. Can Jay-Z finally come through and get the superstar's approval?

Yep, I say give them Chandler and Curry and call it a night. Move Randolph for a 1st rounder anyway so we can add more pieces.
Melo can help the Knicks a ton here by refusing to meet with NJ.
