I heard its already been canceled.

Summer Leagues Awesome. Hopefully they play.

I recall there being reports it was cancelled and the NBA spoke out saying nothing has been cancelled yet. If there is no deal by the end of the month, it's obviously gone...will be sad.

yo Coke, half the people who are hating on Marshon are doing so cuz he did an interview or two talking in third person. Think you could find that one on youtube?

To my knowledge this video^ is interview where he's referred to himself in 3rd person. It occurs only once at the 3:00 mark and I wouldn't be concerned with it or see it as any mental red-flag as if you take it in the context in which it occurred it was completely reasonable for him to do it.

That wasnt the interview, apparently he did it with team interviews..

I forgot whos twitter page it was on but it basically said GMs were turned of by MBrooks b/c of him talking in 3rd person

So its not on video, and we'll never know if its true, but it doesnt really matter..maybe he was trying to prove to that(those) particular GMs...

If that's the case I hope he continues to keep talking in 3rd person to turn off all the GMs that pick before us.

Moocow agrees. In fact, if Moocow was Walsh Moocow would instruct Marshon to keep talking in the 3rd person. In fact, Moocow would suggest Marshon to talk in the 4th person to really freak out GM's of other teams.

I'm a Georgetown fan who watched Brooks torch us for 40+. One thing I can tell you about his game is he flat out knows how to score. You got to remember everybody was keying on this kid every game and he still put up 25 a game in the BE. He's a smooth player who never gets hurried or rushed. He uses his craftiness and underrated athleticism to probe the defense, gets to his spots and once there has the ability to finish with ease. Kid really has a complete game.

His jumper can look slow at times something he will probably have to continue to work on, and he will. This kid wasn't even a top 200 recruit going into school and barely saw the floor his first two seasons. He worked his butt off to get to this position and he has that "I will be a great player" work ethic and mentality.

Defensively he has freakishly long arms that allow him to get in the passing lanes but overall I have no idea how well we will be able to defend his position in the NBA.

If your looking for a straight knock down shooter from 3, I think you take Klay, but if your looking for a guy who is a scorer and can get it done in a variety of ways you take Brooks. Simple as that

A lot of people were saying that wasn't true. Probably a smoke screen by a team that really is after him. Heres something I found on it.

According to Chris Sheriden

Marshon Brooks, Providence: To hear Thompson tell it, there was plenty of mustard on this hot dog in the one-on-one and 3-on-3 scrimmages. We would love to confirm that, but the Knicks do not allow reporters to view their workouts. Brooks hit 19 of 25 attempts from 3-point range and -- according to Thompson -- hit a bunch of sick jumpers despite being closely defended. "He hit some tough shots, and that's what he's going to do, he's a real good player. I thought I stayed in front of him pretty well, but I just got to keep on working on contesting those shots, because he hit a few jumpers over me that are tough shots -- but at the next level those are easy shots for a lot of players." He is regarded as one of the best athletes in the draft, whose production was held down last season because he played out of position at Providence. Chad Ford is particularly enamored of him, and he and trainer Tim Grover had a conversation in which the name Kobe Bryant came to mind (Insider).

Got love what you hear about Brooks. Definitely would be happy with him at #17.

I'm also concerned about his kobe-imitation. If he thinks he's Kobe, it may make it harder for him to be a good role player. It's just a concern though. For all I know he could be a great team player and he just loves Kobe.

Why do you feel threatened or insecure about a player who wants to be great. Why should he wan to "settle" for being a role player?

I posted an interview with Marshon and they asked what he expects to be able to contribute to an NBA team. He said (paraphrasing), at first he wants to be able to just contribute as a rotational player who does whatever it takes to help the team. But he said he honestly feels sometime down the line he will be a big-time scorer in this league.

What's wrong with a mentality like that? If anything that is the killer-instinct that is needed to be great. We don't need guys like Gallinari who claimed they were NOT great, they were just happy to be a part of the team and did not feel that they had what it took to be a great player.

I would be PERFECTLY awesome with any of the following:

Jimmy F
Klay T
Marshon B
Josh S

...and of course Faried. I actually hope we can come away with a couple of guys. But it doesn't look like we may make a Draft Night Trade. We COULD buy a Pick though.

I'd also be happy with D. Morris (who I see as a guy who can become a Collison type of PG).
